Strange Boilermate A class problem, screen keeps freezing!

Hello all! I'm hoping that someone can shed some light in an 'issue' with my boliermate HP DEM??? It is kind of hard to explain, but fairly frequently, the whole thing, including the display seems to freeze, and just continues in whatever mode it is stuck in. If I turn the boilermate on, it...

Do you need 2 doors in a kitchen?

Is there any regulations as to whether you need 2 doors in a kitchen? We currently have one internal and one external door in the kitchen, but we wish to block up the external door and open up a new door just next to the kitchen (along with knocking down an internal wall). Anyone know if this...

    Machine gun noise from boilermate

I should say that it happens regardless of which hot tap is used. The Boilermate has a 1.5bar pressure reducer on the input, and our pressure is only just over a bar anyway, but could this still cause it?

    Machine gun noise from boilermate

That's an interesting one, as the hot water expansion tank supplied from Gledhill was rated officially at 2.5bar, but they seemed to of lowered it somehow to 1.5bar (as recommended in the manual). I'm not sure how they did this or if it can even be done reliably! Can you explain how this...

    Machine gun noise from boilermate

I'm pretty sure it's not water hammer as it's not consistent, but when it does happen, it happens when the tap is turned on, not off.

    Machine gun noise from boilermate

Hi guys, can anyone explain this issue I have with our central heating system? We had a Gledhill Boilermate mains pressure thermal store installed a while ago and there is a strange noise that I can't explain too well! Sometimes, when I turn on the hot tap (opening it quickly), we get a...

Can you solder direct onto a brass draincock?

Hi, I'm currently installing some pipes in my house using solder ring joints and a few compression joints where I don't want to put the blowtorch However, I am putting in a few draincocks which are made of brass...so, can I connect a draincock to a copper pipe using solder ring joint, or...

15mm mains, any point in 22mm in house?

Thanks for the informative responses. The 15mm mains goes into the floor in the kitchen, so doubt that's ever going to be upgraded! I was going to use 22mm just out of cause, but with it being double the price of 15mm, I only wanted to use it if there was any benefit, of which there seems to...

15mm mains, any point in 22mm in house?

Our house has a 15mm mains water into the house. We are about to buy an indirect thermal store that will provide mains pressure hot water to the taps/shower/bath (there will be no cistern in the loft). The connections on the store are 22mm, so is there any point in using 22mm pipes...

    No gas, no oil

No we don't have vehicular access to the property.

    No gas, no oil

Yes, but they are not interested as they are worried that they won't be able to sell the house with an easement attached, so they refused.

    No gas, no oil

The problem is the positioning of the lorry as that would be on the road, the problem is that there would need to be a hose laid from the lorry to the house (oil tank) that would cross the neighbour's land. We could get an informal agreement, but that could obviously be withdrawn at any time...

    No gas, no oil

We have rights of access for normal use, including deliveries, but are not allowed to lay a pipe across the neighbour's land, even if only temporary. The GSHP pipes could be laid in our land.

    No gas, no oil

Hi all, we have a problem. We have just moved into a small 3 bed semi. Unfortunately, to access the house we need to cross the neighbour's land. We currently have storage heaters installed, but they are big, bulky and expensive to run (and are cold in the evening!). We are off the gas...

How To Control Storage Heaters Without A Radio Teleswitch?

Nope, cos I have a 3rd box which is clearly the timeclock. lol The storage heaters are connected to a fuse box which in turn is connected to the offpeak meter. The rest of the house is connected to the onpeak/always on/continuous meter via a seperate fuse box (no MCBs as system is fairly...

How To Control Storage Heaters Without A Radio Teleswitch?

My understanding from talking to Southern Electric is that you have a single box with two electricity readings on it, an on peak and off peak. The box only has one output which supplies the entire house. Thus when the timer switches to the off peak rate, the entire supply & thus house is...

How To Control Storage Heaters Without A Radio Teleswitch?

Yes, that is effectively what I wish to do. When I say take it back to the mains, I mean bring it back to the main RCD that is connected to the mains. I guess the other way of doing it is to connect both inputs to the relevant outputs from the contactor, which is a bit less wiring I guess!

How To Control Storage Heaters Without A Radio Teleswitch?

Hi, I am in a similar situation, but am trying to connect the Gledhill Electramate Wet central heating system.. THis is an electric boiler that requires 2 inputs, an on peak and off peak (that dictates the mode the boiler works in, dependant on where the off peak supply is available)...

    Electric wet central heating options?

Hi, we currently have night storage heaters in our 3 bed semi, but I wish to replace this with a wet central heating system. Unfortunately, Gas isn't available and neither is oil/lpg due to the regulations and also access problems (but that's another story!). The roof slants East (rear is...
