bath plughole gurgling and bubbling when toilet flushes

How do the WC and bath wastes enter the soil stack? How high is your WC branch from the invert of the drain?

I'm sure he meant four edges of the panel.

    Steel Bath

Kaldewei bath. The things on the side are for connecting an earthing point for supplementary bonding. Your best bet is to batten the wall so the bath rests on it. I've also built a wooden frame around the front with thick batten "pillars" on the corners. Was suitably sturdy. Place a plank...

Straight pan connector with 50mm pipe boss

The waste will come through the wall at the centre of the pan and straight into the back. There's only about 140mm so with a pan connector no room to strap a boss onto it. I think i'll just have to boss the 50mm into the soil beneath the branch. At least i'm eliminating the second waste pipe...

Straight pan connector with 50mm pipe boss

It's a posh gaff with the bath being a sunken thing on a higher level to the rest of the room. steps and everything. There'd be sufficient fall. Being a tidy sized room in it's own right I wouldn't be comfortable doing it in 40mm even with anti-vac traps. I thought it was a bit of a long...

Straight pan connector with 50mm pipe boss

The house has a two pipe external soil and hopper head setup. The lady wants as little waste pipe outside as possible so i'll be doing away with the hopper head, replacing the soil pipe and was thinking of running a combined waste in 50mm. I could boss the single 50mm waste pipe into the soil...

    Chrome solder fittings

Hi, Does anyone know of a place online where I can buy chrome solder fittings? I know Yorkshire make integral solder fittings in chrome but I can't find any and there'll be a 3 week wait for the merchants to order a few in. Cheers!

Taps and cisterns...how do I take these apart?

Try turning the tap and giving it a yank upwards. Or look for a small screw at the back you'll need to undo with an allen key. The cistern lid should lift off and you'll have to disconnect a small cable from the button. Normally with a sqeezing to release it.

What are the legalities of this scenario?

If he's stated in writing that he didn't ask you to rectify the problem you should be off the hook surely? As stated above he has to give you the opportunity to remedy the situation.

When removing a rad do you, as a rule...

Dustsheet down, tray under each valve. Open and shove thumbs in to stop water, take outside to empty. Done! (just like Gordon Ramsey) That's if it's a smallish rad mind. If it's a big'n i'll drain it down.

Have some level 2 plumbing questions im not 100% sure on

This is basic cold water stuff. If it isn't contained in your college hand outs what do they contain? I'm an apprentice doing my level 2. Finished the exams this january and doitall is right, it's almost entirely common sense. If you've been paying attention in your theory classes and still...

    Supporting a C/H Circulation Pump

I've seen munsen rings used before. They project out further than normal pipe clips and they're stronger, pumps are pretty heavy for plastic clips.

What to do - shoddy mentor/supervisor

'Tis exactly what I did. Starting with a different guy monday and managed to do it without putting anyone's nose out of joint. Though i'm sure the boss knew what I was getting at even though I was very careful not to say it

What to do - shoddy mentor/supervisor

I was supposed to have a review after the first month then at 3 month intervals after that. Haven't had one yet in 6 months :x Starting monday I'm working with the apparently cranky plumber but after speaking to him I've found him quite friendly. Just a little jaded but what goes on here...

What to do - shoddy mentor/supervisor

No need to apologise, you're advice would be correct in 99% of similar cases and at the least it's opened my eyes to the fact that other people would feel just as strongly about it as I do. I was going to have a word with the boss today but heeded your warning and kept schtum. Instead I asked...

What to do - shoddy mentor/supervisor

The moody bloke I was referring to is the plumber that doesn't get on with the rest, not the guy I work with now. If it got back to him he'd be furious [EDIT - I meant the guy I work with here, not the other plumber. He'd probably pat me on the back]. If that was an option I was happily...

What to do - shoddy mentor/supervisor

With regards to getting out of here my hands are a little tied. The firm pays a lot more than any other within 20 miles and I have a mortgage and every other conceivable bill to pay :( I work nights in a supermarket on weekends just to stay afloat, with even a small drop in pay i'm up the...
