    To rewire or not?

I would go along with that, not in the trade, but if the wires are pvc/sound and the sockets/lights do what you need from them, happy days. If the cable is rubber, its likely to be well shot, and want replacing. Daniel

Weather Compensation - Is it worth installing on UFH

I am interested in this. My parents have electric night storage underfloor heating, which is the sole source of heat for the house, installed by them in the later 80's. At the time an analog 'weather watcher' control system was installed but never really performed as intended and they have...

    Are alloy wheels worth having?

Bloody hell. - That's more than I paid for my car, which came with two full sets of alloy wheels! (summer set and winter set) Daniel

Concealing Glass - AKA Painting over windows.

Because you can paint over what previously looked like a glass window (which, assuming they see it, people take care off) and make it look like a wall or wooden panel or the like, so they then are happy to put a ladder against it or the like. Heard someone talking about it and have see...

Concealing Glass - AKA Painting over windows.

I guess the specific question would be; is there an regulation the prevents the masking/covering/concealing of glass, due to the increased risk of impact due to people not know it is glass or otherwise. Aka, can you paint over a sheet of glass and make it look like a wall, or is there...

Concealing Glass - AKA Painting over windows.

Am I right in thinking there are rules on concealing glass panes, such as painting over them, due to the risk of the public on releasing it is fragile. Sure I have seen something on this and I have certainly still an installation where there where iso looking decals warning that a panel which...

    Painting a car door?

Colour match car-to-car seems to be very good, hence as long as its not old enough to have faded if its the right color a door from one car will match another very well. How east it to touch in a new door I don't know, easy if it flat paint, but very few are these days. Daniel

    Cutting A Worktop

Normally you cut laminate with a down-cutting jigsaw blade. Never done it, but I expect a joiner would use a router or circ saw for 90% of it and then do the last bit with a panel saw? Daniel

Running a cable through a pattress

No scale on the drawing is there.... OP does its close, but not in what way, if ones at worktop height and ones at under counter height.... Daniel

Rendering over damp bricks (below dpc)

Depends how bad it is and how long you plan to live there, I am doing nothing with mine....

    Underside notches on every joist!

Cant comment beyond saying it would have been a lot worse if they where in the middle of the bead (middle of length that is, obviously holes are what you want ideally...) Daniel

    3 Position 2 Way switch

Indeed, just needs a lot more cabling!

    3 Position 2 Way switch

Indeed, sadly mine don't. Exactly that. Do they mount directly into the grid plates or do you need a grid frame as well? I see the do plastic grid plates which would be required, not a cheap option, but yes. Daniel

    3 Position 2 Way switch

I am after a 3 position on-off-on switch, I am aware they are not common, but have seen a few around and would like to buy one. Switch will be used to switch the floodlights I am putting up, to allow me to have the on, off, or pir controlled. If it comes to it will just omit the ability to...

    LED downlighters in Bathroom

I have just put LED replacements in my bathroom and kitchen. Used the '35w Equiv' 4.5w Diall units from BnQ which do the job ok, its less critical anyway as its not a room you work in. Kitchen I used a mixed of '50w Equiv' 6.5w Dial units and Osram 5.5w units , with one tescos own brand...

    Removing old tiles then re-tiling?

    Garage concrete floor strength?

I am only going on what I have seen, but It sounds to me like it would be fine. I presume a commercial 2 post lift could be different, but from what I have seen even these are typically only attached to the floor, all be it the floor may be of a higher grade in a commercial garage. Daniel

Chimney breasts removed but not up to current B.Regs

When I was looking at houses I found a couple that had some fairly outrageous supports for removed or part-removed chimneys, but equally while I am no builder I see no reason to change for changes sake. Have you spoken to the surveyor? Mind way quite open to talk about what he had reported...
