    Corded Drill & Jigsaw

Hi all, Fedup with batteries going flat on cordless drills, and fedup with pair of cheap jigsaws that I have (blades come loose easily, if they fit properly in the first place), so I'm on the lookout for corded drill and a new jigsaw. Budget for the both is max of £150 total, advice greatly...

    stix -all

Not come across that one personally, I tend to use Screwfixes own brand for most stuff, but I'm not doing anything particularly heavy duty, so can't comment on how strong it holds - I even repaired a pair of slippers with it, lol (Not a safe house right now to walk around with nothing on your feet).

Circular Saw for first DIY job

Alternative to buying of course is to hire one, about £25 for a single day for a power mitre saw(or at least it is at local place to me). I think I'm right in saying as well, that most cheap circular saws come with a blade only really suited to ripping and not cross cutting (I know the cheapie...

    Sliding Compound Mitre Saw

lol, so it's not just me then. Even worse thing is, I'd seen where it was stored when I was reading about it on various websites, then when I needed it couldn't find it in the box (duh!) so used a small ratchet instead.

    Sliding Compound Mitre Saw

It's me, they're all miiiiiiine :) Didn't think I was going to get mine actually, as I'd added them to my cart, and when I came back later to process it, they'd removed them from offer on the site.

    Sliding Compound Mitre Saw

Got myself two of Freud Pro from Screwfix, good job really, they're all gone now.

    Sliding Compound Mitre Saw

Thanks for all the help. DW712 and universal legs arrived this morning, blew the budget right out of the water but it's the mutts nuts, produced a fantastic cut with the Freud Pro blade on some architrave and did a lovely job on some oak as well.

    Building a shed

Just doing plans for my own at the moment, can buy one for not much more than it's going to cost me, but I know mine will be built better and I'll have full control over it - plus it gives me something to do away from a computer.

    Sliding Compound Mitre Saw

Bad form double replying, I know, but nevermind. What's the life like on them usually? After something that'll give me a finish that doesn't need much working - It's Oak that I have in mind for this particular blade purchase. If that's a good price (appears to be) then if it's going to be...

    Sliding Compound Mitre Saw

Saw that one earlier and added it to my cart in case there were no other options :) Looks like the DW712 in USA uses smaller arbor size 5/8" compared to 30mm over here, unless I'm missing something.

    Sliding Compound Mitre Saw

Hi, Thanks to everyone for the advice, I blew the budget somewhat and went for a DW712 in the end. Next question is, does anyone know of any stores in USA that sell the Series 40 and 60 blades as I've got a friend going over in a week or so and from what I can tell the blades are much much...

Worx. Any good for the DIY'er?

Unless you go for good money, battery hammer tends to be poor. I have a Bosch 12V with Hammer and it's next to useless, nearly always end up going and getting my SDS out for the job.

    Sliding Compound Mitre Saw

Up to £200 really, but I'd go to £250 if it were a really good buy. SIP would have been ideal @ £99+VAT if it didn't cut corners on build quality, seemed to be fairly sturdly with no play etc. (Although I never got chance to get it running)

    Sliding Compound Mitre Saw

Hi, Does anyone have any recommendations on an affordable SCMS? I bought a SIP 01502 today, and it's going back tomorrow, as without even using it, it broke - cheap nasty bolt on the blade arbor, sheared through when I tried to remove the blade, so I won't be touching another SIP tool with a...

    Vista

Vista appears to be a departure for the norm from Microsoft, in that it actually does work very well - Even if you do an upgrade install (As I did on the PC I'm typing this from), and that's not something that usually works well at all with previous versions of Windows - In fact, it actually...

    Ping....someone explain it to me!

www.sinet.bt.com - SIN386, page 3, paragraph starts "All BT IPstream products...." (I can't copy it, it's in a protected PDF). Followed on page 17, in the table of changes to SIN386, on 17/10/2005 I'm just trying to find a copy of v1.8 at the moment, which is the last SIN386 to make...

    Ping....someone explain it to me!

Igorian - Regardless of what it says on the consumer facing side, I can assure you that it no longer applied. I'll find the references for you when I'm back at work.

    Ping....someone explain it to me!

Idea is the same, function wise it is a world apart. The game itself has to process the reply, which will be fairly low priority (As are ICMP packets usually), which means if the game server software is busy, then the response will be slower than would an ICMP packet which would be answered by...

    ID chips in wheelie bins

Manufacturers have a duty to provide for disposing of old electrical equipment now as the WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) directive has now come in to force, so there's no excuse for dumping them, putting them in the bin. Personally, I think everyone has a duty to recycle...

    Vista

Just waiting for our copies at work to arrive at the moment, should hopefully arrive in the next couple of days. Looking forward to the new collaberation features in Office 2007 most though.
