Asbestos in Floor Tiles over 'fungal growth'.

Letitbnown - firstly, relax, asbestos containing thermoplastic floor tiles are not a health hazard. I work as an asbestos consultant for a large engineering consultancy so this is not random information ;) The asbestos in your floor tiles will be in all probability chrysotile asbestos (white)...

    Will this CU take RCBOs?

BAS - that was a question from electronicsuk post about not using metal faceplates, i wanted to know the difference. You may want to look at your keyboard, you seem to have a sticking fullstop key.

    kitchen installation

80's man, well i think its now time to name and shame, you were very good in giving them a chance to sort the problem, but it seems they have done the bare minimum to stop you suing them rather than actually making you happy.

    Will this CU take RCBOs?

Right, lots of responses, so thanks to all. In order that i remember, BAS - bought the house two years ago mid refurb by another bloke, plastering was all done etc, im talking a lick of paint. If i had known what i know now before the place had been plastered then yes a re-wire would have been...

    Will this CU take RCBOs?

Thanks for the quick response. Re-wire is currently not on the cards due to recent decoration throughout house and a 4 week old baby! So looking for increased safety until that can happen. Bear with my ignorance for a second, if the switch faceplate is wired to the metal backbox that is...

    Will this CU take RCBOs?

From the picture above would this CU take an RCBO? The reason i ask is that my lighting circuits are not on the RCD side of my box and the switches are not earthed (just single black and red). Would having these circuits on an RCBO be safer than current setup?

When Not To Use Insulation Tape

Use it for a plaster? That maddness. Of course using it every saturday to tape up my ears whilst playing rugby is what it was really designed for.....the colours are so you can match your kit.....

    UNPROFESSIONAL TRADESMEN

As a customer i don't expect people to always turn up at the time they said, jobs run on, traffic can be a nightmare etc etc, but a phone call is polite i think if its going to be more than say half an hour.

    RCD?

Yes i had to do that a while ago, out of shot is a piece of card numbered the same as the CU with each circuit detailed. Shame there are two MCB's on the CU that appear to do nothing, very confusing.

    RCD?

Ohh i should say, its a split load box, there are 4 MCB's on the other side, 3 x 6amp that feed the lighting circuits and 1 x 40amp that supplies the kicthen (gas range cooker before you all panic).

    RCD?

cabinman - my technical knowledge is pretty light but as far as i understand, although there are 5 MCB's i can only find that three of them do anything (upstairs socket ring, downstairs socket ring that does not include the kitchen and garge socket ring). I bought the house two years ago and...

    RCD?

pompeygit - cheers for the response, was not sure what figure i was looking at! That puts my mind at rest.

Would you mind if a client wouldn't pay till job complete?

FreshAL....firstly im not a sparky, just a customer. If you had a new install done and the cable to your cooker has 'broken' whilst he is still on site, are you seriosuly saying he has now run surface conduit rather than replace the cable and make good?

    RCD?

This is the RCD in my CU. I had underfloor heating installed in my bathroom and the sparks connected into my upstairs ring (its just a 2m2 mat). Reading on here the RCD should be a lower rating for this application?
