How to switch Viessmann DHW off when immersion is auto on

Thanks. Yes Hot water cylinder is a CentreCylinder HE120, with a 27" 2.8-3Kw immersion. Although I take your point about unit costs, my friend who fitted the PV system is in a similar position and is exporting far more than the deemed 50% that they pay for, sometimes 80%, so I would rather use...

How to switch Viessmann DHW off when immersion is auto on

Hi guys, I have a Vitodens 200, and also a 4Kw PV array on the roof. I intend to fit a Solar iBoost which diverts excess electricity to the immersion heater. Under normal circumstances the DHW runs at about 60 degrees, and ideally I would like to have a circuit from the iBoost that switches the...

Thanks very much, I will ensure this is done.

    Domestic supply cable

Thanks for that, my leccy is dealing with it, and it will not be underground in future as it is being moved, however I would still like to know if its depth was legal at 260mm. :?: :?: :?:

    Domestic supply cable

In the course of my builder digging out foundations for an extension, some concrete had to be cleared away during which the supply cable to the house was damaged. Power supply was uninterrupted, however the cable metal sheath is damaged. Am I correct that this cable should have been laid at a...

    Under house drain

Thanks for that, I had read somewhere that they were doing something similar with old Victorian drains. It may be cheaper to lay a new 40' drain outside the house, but I will look into it. Thanks anyway.

    Under house drain

Too late, the house was built over it 37 years ago!The Inspector has approved the insertion of a 4" pipe as far as is possible.

    Under house drain

If drains are juicy, yes! :D :D :D I still can't fathom how a building inspector passed a 6" iron drain to run through house foundations. After 37 years it is badly corroded, and it is only a matter of time before it disintegrates completely. I can only hope that the surrounding foundations...

    Under house drain

Hi guys, A drain runs under my house and we are building a small extension which requires it to be moved. My builder is puzzled as the upper section we can see is made of metal, is of larger than standard diameter, and the other drain half pipe appears to be laid into what appears to be the...

    Drilling holes through lintel

Good idea, I'll have another look at the plan to see if that is feasible. I think it will depend on the total height of the lintels plus the tray above which bridges the cavity.

    Drilling holes through lintel

Perhaps void is the wrong term. To avoid running the pipes along the wall or ceiling, I wish to feed the pipes from the boiler in the extension, up into the 'space' above the ceiling plasterboard then through the lintels into the 'space' above the existing ceiling, and from there up into the...

Are the Catnic type not suitable for this job then?

    Drilling holes through lintel

I assume SE is Structural Engineer, who, as far as I am aware, has not been consulted. Will one be required for building Regs approval?

    Drilling holes through lintel

Thanks, no gas pipes, just water going through. Unfortunately my Viessmann boiler has separate 22mm in/out CH & DHW pipes which would look very ugly elsewhere. I'll check with the architect.
