[/url] Yes, I was after a spanner like this but I've been told in this thread that different manufacturers will have slightly different nut sizes, so it may not fit?

    compression fitting size

I can't justify buying an expensive spanner for just one nut when I already have one. Before you tell me I might need it again, I've never really needed it in the past. I always try to use the fixed ones as much as possible.

    compression fitting size

The problem I have with my adjustable spanners is that they often slip and damage the nut. I was going to use it on one nut to hold it in place and the other spanner on the other nut. I believe I will have to use adjustable spanners though as you have pointed out that different manufacturers...

what does the 22mm refer to in a 22mm compression fitting? Is it the size of the nut? Will I therefore need a 22mm spanner? I need to know what spanner size I need for that compression fitting. I don't like the adjustable ones.

    Leveling concrete kitchen floor

OK, I see now. I thought before that you could keep the slope and lay the vinyl over it as long as it is flat. But you want it level. So to give you advice, I can see no other way than using a self-levelling compound. I recently levelled small areas of my floor and it was a much bigger job...

    Leveling concrete kitchen floor

As far as I'm aware, the surface for lino needs to be flat, not level. Level means horizontal. Flat means devoid of bumps and holes. So you could have a steep slope on a flat floor and the lino would still go nicely on top of it.

    Ric2013's eco credentials

It's great that some people care about the environment but unfortunately individual action will have next to no impact. We in the UK are trying to cut down on greenhouse emissions yet at the same time vast countries like China and the US have no targets to cut down on theirs. At the risk...

where do I find the current rating on a choc block?

where do I find the current rating on a choc block?

Here's a picture of the size then. What do the experts reckon is the current rating? True, you do need a few tools for crimping but in the long run it works out cheaper. I plan to use one of those cheap ratchets and a hair dryer for the heat shrink. I wouldn't mind buying a proper ratchet...

where do I find the current rating on a choc block?

lighting circuit or rings main, depending on rating but it looks like I will never know. I'll probably use crimping for the rings main as a 30A choc block is much more expensive in comparison.

where do I find the current rating on a choc block?

well a 2.5mm T&E cable fits in comfortably. The choc block is small enough, aren't they all?

where do I find the current rating on a choc block?

It's just a plain white/transparent choc block. Nothing special. And I can't find anything ending with an A written on it.

where do I find the current rating on a choc block?

I have some old ones lying around and can't find the rating on them. Can't use them then? How can you tell if it's 20A or 30A rated?

    My experience

I've had better luck with plumbers too. Well, only one plumber since I kept the first one I found. He isn't perfect though. Once I asked him to move a radiator from behind the door so it can open fully. He moved it partially because he didn't have pipes long enough!!! It's like an electrician...

    My experience

I seem to have bad experience with finding tradesmen and in particular electricians. I've literally had more than 10 come to my house to give me a quote for some remedial work. Some didn't turn up and never called to cancel, many turned up late and never called and still some turned up...
