    Karcher 601 Hds steam cleaner

Hi John I watched a youtube video on cleaning the boiler out, the chap used muriatic acid and the results were amazing, this was american of course and apparently not available over here, what do we use here? Descalite is a name that comes to mind, I think that's formic acid but I doubt it...

    Karcher 601 Hds steam cleaner

Didn't know what category to post this in so it's here. Can anyone help? My son has the above mentioned cleaner/pressure washer with several faults: 1. It cuts out after 20 seconds as though the water pressure is low. Our water supply does have low pressure but the volume of supply is good, it...

    Chipped Windscreen

I have repaired cracks but you have to catch them before they run away. I'm trying to work out what that is in inches, I'm old. No, that sounds way to long unless its not moving in which case you may have a chance if you work from the outer ends inward. I had one that started with a chip and we...

I'm scared to change the oil because I think I stripped the sump threads last time, but it needsdoin

If it only the bolt thread that has failed you should be able to get one on Ebay. I did this a while back and wrapped the plug with PTFE tape, worked a treat. Peter

    Any Peugeot 406 Owners?

Hi John Apologies for the absence. Yes I read your post, 18v across the battery must represent a heck of a lot amps going in but I suppose as long as its not doing it long enough to heat the battery up its OK, just a very rapid recovery mode. Remember the old 'fast chargers' the secondhand car...

    Any Peugeot 406 Owners?

Hello I'm back, still here although coming up 81 and still repairing my own cars. Changed my computer and lost the link to the forum - and forgot about it. I ran 406 Hdi estates for about 10 years and they are a brilliant car, I did lots of miles and can say with certainty they were the...

    Body filler recommendations please

I'm with John, I have been trying to stop cars going rusty for 65 years now! The most successful treatment so far has been spraying the underside with oil once a year, paying particular attention to the cavities. The sills I treat by squirting oil in through any orifice I could find, if there...

    Lion Car Batteries

I fairly accurate assessment of car batteries, if you have access to them is to feel the weight, the heaviest battery of the same size should be the best one with more plate material - unless they've filled the bottom up with stones of course.:( One of my jobs when I started work was charging...

    Bosch Classixx washer

Tried hitting it at all angles to no avail. I could take a chance on replacing the switch but the screw type are not readily available, at least not here. There are some in Australia but with carriage they are expensive - if they can get here at all. Someone is advertising a secondhand one but...

    Bosch Classixx washer

Mine has ceased working, the lights are on but no movement from the motor. The last time this happened about 7 or 8 years ago I found the brushes were worn and replaced them, this time they are OK though. It has been suggested that the door switch is faulty although I have dismantled and cant...

zafira hot air blowers with high external temp

I would concur with John. If it does it when the engine is completely cold and its fitted with an electric auxiliary heater as most PSA cars seem to be, could be that's stuck on, although I have never heard of that happening. Peter

Borg and Beck filters and brakes

I had something Borg & Beck which wasn't a product that I would have associated with them, can't remember what it was now, wondered if it was 'badge engineering' what ever it was worked OK. I also have trouble with drop links but they all seem to be the same, I buy the ones with two flats behind...

New Tyres on a Budget: Which to Choose?

I get most of my information from here: https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/accessories-tyres/91856/tyre-reviews-best-car-tyres. I go for quiet comfortable tyres as I'm old and don't drive fast but you will find results for all sorts of tyres there. Peter
