How would you deal with this cast iron bath

I somehow assumed that wouldn't work or would take too long. I'll give it a go.

How would you deal with this cast iron bath

Believe it or not when we moved in and being a complete beginner I knocked an ugly cast iron fireplace (it really was ugly) into pieces with a pin hammer. Not saying how long it took

How would you deal with this cast iron bath

Great idea smashing from the sides and pipe insulation. I can probably hit it from the outside so the pieces fall into the bath rather than the floor. I've found a bath that seem to fit the same measurements as the current bath so may be o.k. My plan is to support the heating pipes with a few...

How would you deal with this cast iron bath

Thanks. Damaging the pipework wouldn't be great as it would mean getting in a plumber. Ideal scenario: as little damage as possible

How would you deal with this cast iron bath

Hi there I was thinking of putting a club hammer to this cast iron bath and remove it. It's in poor condition btw. The challenge though is: it's in a wood bath frame and the heating pipes are resting on the legs plus sink water pipes close by. How would you deal with this without causing...

Tiling onto old plywood small area

Thanks for info, much appreciated. The section to be tiled is just behind the single ended bath taps so water will be splashing. Think it may be worth buying a few cement boards just to be on safe side. Would be a major bummer if my first ever diy tiling job doesn't go well.

Tiling onto old plywood small area

Hi There We live in a Victorian house and one of the bathroom walls where the front of bath is installed is up against a DIY cupboard (boiler). The old tiles on this wall (maybe 40 years old) have been tiled onto a pice of plywood with a bit of pva on top. Plywood in perfect condition. Never...

    Bath Plumbing

It's teed to hot and cold pipe from boiler which is the horizontal pipes that's slightly bend. It then goes downward into the floor, not sure where though. Will pigtailing them not cause some kind of problem? What about the connectors? looks to me like i'd need a female to female 22 mm flexi...

    Bath Plumbing

Hi There Iam replacing an old cast iron bath as it looks pretty bad. I anticipate tap holes on the new acrylic bath tub won't line up with existing pipework. My first solution was to use flexible connectors but as you can see on the pictures of the hot tap, the distance from tap to tee is...

    Unused chimney without pot

Thanks for reply. It was my intention to have similar pots as neighbours but when I got a quote from a roofer suggesting simply putting slate and flaunching I assume he intended to block it up completely so got a bit confused about best practice. As it is I think similar approach to neighbours...

    Unused chimney without pot

The house is a typical London Victorian house. As you can see it's a shared chimney with two pots on the neighbours side. I assume the side with no pots is our side. The fireplace in bathroom is boarded up so no pics

    Unused chimney without pot

Hi There We have an unused shared chimney which connects to first floor bathroom. The neighbours chimney side has two chimney pots but on our side there's none. Our side is partly covered with concrete and partly open. There's no damp and never been a problem but I thought perhaps it should...

    Mixer Shower Pipes

Hi there I am about to do a basic bathroom refurbishment. We currently have an older cheap electric shower above bathtub with low water pressure. The bathtub on the other hand has excellent water pressure. I want to install a mixer shower instead off combi boiler. The pipework is acccesible...

    Cutting holly tree trunk

Luckily no birds nesting and I've consistently cut the height to a manageable level so in theory not a monumental task. I like the idea of cutting it down looking like a bush. It really is quite extradinary how much work there is maintaining a house.
