I've seen a couple of designs on https://retrofit.support/ they use woodfibre insulation, two layers by the looks of it, and the window frame sits inside the first layer. A ply/softwood box goes in the old window hole to cover the existing brickwork. specifically looking at this setup...

tomfe, open to suggestions at this stage, window inside the insulation is possible - if the window can fix within 100mm, and the window can fix securely to the insulation board, or i can engineer something to sit in the insulation for the window to attach to!

In my case, i had approx 500mm underfloor space in the existing part of the house, so dropped the entire floor level down for the connecting room. This gives impression of a high ceiling, but nothing majorly out of place.

thanks dp - need to get decent view of what pipes are going where to try and see whats happening. I suspect that the flow or return for rads is passing though the HWT for some reason, but once ive got a camera on a stick or wife's compact mirror on a stick i can see which pipes at the back...

I think the NRV may be the easiest option, but i need to correctly identify the pipework for the HWT first, cant see why i would have 5 sets of 22mm for rad circuit, unless it is plumbed in to the rads somewhere. Gas112, boiler and tank were replaced along with install of ufh in Dec, so this is the first summer that I've noticed as the heating was suppose to be off...

So i confirmed my initial flow/returns, The same sides get hot for CH as they do with DHW. I looked at the return pipes and their order of connections, last one before filter and boiler is UFH manifold... and i cant see where the return is for the upstairs rads! The hotwater tank in use is ACV...
