    CDA Island Extractor Not Sucking!

The flexible pipe is only for the upwards stretch where it joins to a solid downward facing opening, connected to a 90 degree angle piece, which links to the solid stretch to the external vent. Now that its pulled tight, there is barely any ridge in that stretch.

Replacing Oven/Hob - Located in a breakfast bar island

Thank you to everyone that responded in this thread, I finally got around to wiring it this weekend, the oven and hob are fitted and working beautifully and I even have a handy plug socket at the end of the island which I hadn't considered having before. Still lots to do in this kitchen, but...

    CDA Island Extractor Not Sucking!

I just took the lower extractor canopy off and inspected the ducting - what I noticed is that where I had raised the extractor up into its ceiling mount, the flexible tubing had distorted quite a bit, possibly enough to break the proper flow of air. I retested with a steaming pan of hot...

    CDA Island Extractor Not Sucking!

Just spoke with one of their engineers - they commented the following: - Ensure that the flexible ducting section is pulled tight, there should be no slack because the sides of the flexible ducting can cause vortexes and lack of suction. - Smoke isn't the correct way to test, should only...

    CDA Island Extractor Not Sucking!

Yeah, even on mode 1 the airflow externally is quite immense! I've just spoken with CDA, they commented that there is a mechanical switch to toggle between the two extraction modes, interestingly however the manual doesn't feature or mention it. She's asking an engineer to call me back...

    CDA Island Extractor Not Sucking!

Thanks John - does the air flowing out of the external vent prove that the device is exhausting in your opinion?

    CDA Island Extractor Not Sucking!

Thanks John - sorry I did mean a physical switch of some form, but still couldn't find such a thing, however what you have mentioned concerning carbon filter is interesting. I'm going to call the manufacturer this morning so hopefully can update you all later with some positive news :)

    CDA Island Extractor Not Sucking!

I have reread the manual many times and can't find any mention of a switch to toggle between recirculate or external extraction as this also occurred to me :(

    CDA Island Extractor Not Sucking!

Its a brand new unit, so the filters are spotless. I ended up using 120mm ducting but the unit recommends 150mm, it does state that performance would be degraded but this unit simply isn't sucking anything - watching it this morning whilst cooking pancakes, the smoke was rising, hitting the...

    CDA Island Extractor Not Sucking!

Interesting point, but I've tested it with the house entirely open (all doors open), at present the kitchen doesn't have a door to close it off to the rest of the house. Also, doesn't the air rushing out through the vent externally show that air is flowing?

    Ducting for Island Cooker Hood

Thanks to those whom gave advice back in 2012 concerning this extractor, I have now found the time to fit the thing and have a few issues which you can hopefully help with: http://www.diynot.com/forums/electrics/cda-island-extractor-not-sucking.369397/#2811546

    CDA Island Extractor Not Sucking!

EDIT: I should have posted this in 'Appliances', I have asked for it to be moved. I just installed a CDA EVPK90 Island Extractor, its ducted to a length of about 2m from the point at which the duct enters the ceiling, and the ducting length is straight without twists/turns etc. I removed the...

    damaged vacuum cleaner cord...

I still wonder if it is actually - I don't see how a hoover could possibly break a cable to that extent...very odd!

    April 6th Changes

Again, this is simply a poor comparison and the context is entirely different to the original discussion concerning electrics, and proving whether or not you were responsible for electrical work which caused damage/harm etc. The charge of "Driving whilst uninsured" is a direct consequence of...

You can't really use that as an example - there is a law specifically stating that it is an offence not to produce such documented when requested, however in the context that we're discussing (electrics) there is no explicit law stating that such artefacts should be presented.

    damaged vacuum cleaner cord...

I did actually think the same, hence why the only response to this thread should be "call a professional" or "the manufacturer".
