    Computer security comparison.

The various tools offer much the same as one another. What's just as key is to keep an eye on software update, the massive Microsoft updates sometimes fail, so worth checking in particular before interacting with a sensitive website. Take care opening email, watch for typos in emails...

Is there a UEFI option in the BIOS ?

    Inherited laptop.

Yeah, that works if you have a Win10 code. The media creation tool creates the bootable USB, then hit F2 or F8 as laptop boots and in the BIOS make sure boot order has USB first. If no USB option, create the media on a CD

Boot from a bootable cd or usb, adjust boot order in BIOS. Youd need to create the boot image on another device of course. I tend to throw Linux Mint on older devices.

    Tablet for kids

The Matepad runs Android 10 so should be better supported in the long term, however is more expensive, so it's a balance between a cheaper option that might get smashed anyway, or something that will be supported for a good few years

    Tablet for kids

Seems a smart answer to me. Those leapfrog things soon lose their appeal. The kids want to use something that looks like what their parents use :) a rubberised case is a must One observation though, don't those Huawei mediapads only use Android 8, which is next to go end of life. Android 11...

    Repair veneered vanity unit

Yeah, that was another option I'd discussed with my wife. Given the drawer fronts have already absorbed water, and that they are easily removed, I think we'll furnish our own new drawers from ply or similar

    Repair veneered vanity unit

It's made by Roca, not the most expensive unit agreed, but functions well otherwise. Yes, the revealed wood is chipboard

    Repair veneered vanity unit

Thanks Johnny, another great suggestion. My DIY skills don't stretch to removing the unit, but the rest of it is possible:)

    Repair veneered vanity unit

Hi there, I'm pretty good with woodwork, but struggling to think of a good fix for this unit where all that's wrong is the veneer coming off the bottom of the top drawer front. Any suggestions please on a fix? The veneered panel is screwed to the drawer carcass so easily removed or replaced...

    Very slow startup.

Win10 is too bulky for a laptop that age. Grab the Linux Mint operating system (free) and breath new life into them

    Dell Inspiron keeps switching off.

If it's not a weak battery, then sounds like a driver issue. Were any drivers recently upgraded, these could be rolled back under Device Manager. Take a look in device Manager for any drivers with problems, marked with an exclamation mark

Rollback most recent touchpad driver update from device manager, then try those kboard shortcuts?

    Conventional boiler temperature control

What I dont get is that surely over the longer duration on the lower setting it will use as much gas?

    Conventional boiler temperature control

Hi, my Greenstar Ri boiler has a dial temp range of between 35 and 82C. I appreciate that the higher temps use more gas but get rooms up to temp quicker and more heat is retained in rads for longer. Why then, would I ever want to reduce it? Currently set to around three quarters of max dial...
