What alarm wired/wireless with phone notification and cats!

sorry to intrude into this thread. I was about to ask the question as well about cost-effective alarm for my sister's house which is pet friendly. it is only a small house - front door leading to stairs; rear door and a rear patio door. Upstairs there is a back bedroom and bathroom and 2...

    My £180 4CH CCTV Setup - A Review

I agree - and many thanks for the helpful posts - ditto Lee2009. Not all of us have made minds up which is why we post here for help. To be fair to Tim he posted a summary of his experience. It was timely for me as I was mulling over the same thing - a simple decent cheap and cheerful CCTV...

Dulux Trade vs Johnstone Cover Plus?

Fair enough. The man doth speaketh the truth though - the fine has faded to a very dull "eggshell" sheen which is nice. 8) The only criticism I have of it is that it does seem to flaunt even smallish imperfections in the stripping of the old paint on the door frame - which is sadly just at...

Dulux Trade vs Johnstone Cover Plus?

In truth I wasn't. I was planning to Satinwood the trim (wife wanted to matt it) but the paint shop person recommended the oil based eggshell instead as I am sure I mentioned painting the Rad as well as the trim. As we now have to wait a couple of weeks before any more painting can be done...

when is a woodchip ceiling not a woodchip ceiling? When....

Thanks - will give it a go. My fear is the whole area under the landing as there is about 1m at the edge near the stairs (free edge) that seems to have slightly pulled away from the ceiling itself

when is a woodchip ceiling not a woodchip ceiling? When....

...it is an Artex ceiling. AAArggh! :x To be fair 2 of the ceilings to be addressed are woodchip and being stripped tomorrow. The hallway I saw today is actually Artex. Most of it is fairly sturdy but there one area which seems to be coming a little loose which will need removal or repair...

Dulux Trade vs Johnstone Cover Plus?

Johnstone Coverplus - great. Johnstone Eggshell - rubbish. It looks exactly like Gloss. Wife not pleased with the gloss look so will have to look to sand it down and get some dulux satinwood and hope that works

Dulux Trade vs Johnstone Cover Plus?

You have all been fantastic to and with me during my many recent threads. The £25 is a special offer atm apparently from the normal £35. I did also think that re 20l but I guess it won't go to waste on the kitchen and dining room ceilings

Woodchip Ceiling: Skim or "smoothing paint"?

Will do mate - thanks. I have never used a steamer before, in the past it was old school hot water and sponges  I tested the dining room ceiling with my finger and boy is it crumbly.

Dulux Trade vs Johnstone Cover Plus?

After all the tips and advice I am now in the final stretch and starting looking around for paint prices at local indept trade places, Wickes, B&Q etc. I have found B&Q seems to be by far the cheapest place for Dulux Trade Vinyl Matt. Rang a local trade paint shop and they said they don't...

Woodchip Ceiling: Skim or "smoothing paint"?

Fair enough - thank you. I am not trying to be churlish asking for help and ignoring it (completely!) - I was just using my experience of a similar situation which seemed to work with good effect. It is my new family home so Landlord fixes are not what I am after. I shall do as you advise

Woodchip Ceiling: Skim or "smoothing paint"?

Many thanks for your help guys. I have a plasterer. removing it from the walls of my old place was torture and I only did it from 1 ceiling as the underlying plaster was crumbled. So I ended up skimming over the rest - and it was fine for the rest of the few years we were there. Here in...
