Yup, that's exactly why and even then that may not have been enough if it was an ascending type spray bidet. Cat5 backflow protection needs a cistern with an air gap and a weir overflow, which a standard cold water cistern wouldn't have had.

If you can avoid it, try not using the rubber adapters. Over the longer term they can become troublesome as they age harden. If at all possible I would recommend that you either use the correct pushfit or ideally a solvent weld adapter.
