Crown quick drying gloss - crap

Probably the most important factor in obtaining a good, even finish with water based glosses. If you try to over-brush an area that is beginning to dry, you'll end up in all sorts of brown stuff!

Acrylic eggshell overpainted with kitchen / bathroom paint in error. Can it be overpainted ?

It should be fine because K&B paint is effectively a thinner/cheaper version of acrylic eggshell. To be sure it adheres, wait a couple of days (if possible) to allow the K&B paint to cure and give it all very light sanding with 180/240 grit sandpaper, just to provide a better key for the acrylic...

    One For The Regulars

@opps The company I work for is pretty much 50/50 on sprayers vs brushes - we sub out the work and it is the individual paint crews who use whatever means they wish. That said, it has to be finished to a high standard or they don't get full payment. Most painters on our books have been working...

How did they charge my Paypal?

If this is genuine, anyone you have handed your Mastercard to could have kept the details from it. If they also know your email and that you are a member of DIYnot, you are now subject to a big financial loss.

    Work experience for school children

True, but mine was bloody useless. They sent the majority of kids to supermarkets and the like to stack shelves - very inspiring! I was lucky enough to have a friend whose father owned a printing firm and I got a place there helping design (I use that description loosely!) business cards...

Exterior pebbledash painting - Advise required please

@ripperuk If the actual mortar is crumbling and causing the stone chips to fall off then a stabilising solution may be beneficial. If it's just the chips that are falling away, you should be fine with just painting - as I mentioned initially, all dashing has chips that fall off, especially...

Exterior pebbledash painting - Advise required please

I really wouldn't suggest a sealer unless the surface is powdery, in which case a masonry stabilising solution can be used. Products like Water Seal can act as a water resistant barrier if you wish to leave the surface unpainted but you have to be careful when painting over those products as...

Yes, the doors are the typical pressed/moulded kind. I have to admit that, before I left, I still had a bit of trouble with those doors when it came to water-based paints. I couldn't get one that would cover well and dry properly - they would either dry fine but have poor opacity or cover well...

    Painting roof fascia

Have a look at Bedec Barn Paint. You can apply it directly to most surfaces and, in most instances, it doesn't need a primer. Just make sure you remove all loose and flaky paint, repair damaged areas, and you are good to go. http://bedec.co.uk/BARN%20PAINT%20LEAFLET.pdf

Exterior pebbledash painting - Advise required please

This suggests spar as roughcast chippings are mixed into the render before application, meaning they shouldn't fall off. I've always classed what you have as sparring, although various regions may use different terminology for the same thing. The term 'pebbledash' is commonly used by most people...
