    Usually try to keep the Co below 60 on an oil boiler as higher promotes sooting. Could be someting else like air getting into the oil line as grandees are prone to this, dirty oil or wrong oil or a problem with the burner.

    For a start the oil tank is not supported correctly. Wood is not suitable it rots, it needs to be slabs on lintles and extend 300mm out around the base. Nothing can be stored under the oil tank which constitutes a fire risk. You need to get that sorted first then get the rayburn checked, might...

    Some manufacturers do a spacer jam which fits behind the existing jam but it sounds like you need a tapered jam. Hindsight is a great thing and walls should have been plumbed first.

    Tins of Atric Spray work well, cheap and easy to use and once frozen fit valves so you don't have to keep frozen for any lenght of time.

    Trevis do a Trevi Boost shower mixer which uses the venturi principle where water under mains pressure is pushed through a small nozzle which draws in hot water from a full bore pipe and increases the pressure. Whether you can get something bigger with the same principle i don't know.

    You have Acorn pipe which was the mark 1 version of Hep. It is non barrier and Hep push fit fittings will fit it as long as you put the inserts in the pipe ends to support it. Take a cutting to a merchants and they will sort you out as I cannot tell the size from the pictures.

    Mole grips are not the way, get a proper spanner and tap it round with a rubber mallet clockwise, its a left hand thread. It will be just too tight.

    Had this once with gas smell but only when heating on. Turned out something had be spilt down back of radiator and would only smell when hot. Had me searching everywhere for a leak.

    Niagara do a foldable multi panel with a drop down channel which the panels push into to give a very good seal.
