    led light strobing

It is not a “crappy design”. It is not intended to be used with a lower load. You have posted incorrect information.

    1.5mm2 cable for single socket?

I have googled 4 way splitter as requested. How should I connect 3 heaters to any of these?

    Electric Underfloor Heating

You lie often. Would you like me to post some examples again? Your statement lacks credibility due to the lack of actual evidence to support your opinion. I understand that you think it is a bad idea but that doesn’t mean that it actually is.

    Electric Underfloor Heating

The trouble is you’ve got such a history of lying on this forum people are bound to ask for proof when you make a statement which appears to lack credibility. You’ve been asked to provide evidence to support your spurious claims many many times and have never managed to do so. The only possible...

    Hot tap instalation

We have one of these taps in the kitchen of the office I’m currently based in. It’s quite a scary beast as the steam pressure really blasts the water out!

    Tidy loft cables

Just leave them be and chuck your insulation straight over the top if they’re just lighting cables. Don’t if they’re not!

    No Main Earth Connection

There’s an area of Leeds where all the houses are fed with PILC and many of them have a main earth connection from the sheath to the installation but none of the PILC is actually earthed by the DNO and they were all installed as TT supplies. The DNO will now provide a PME terminal for a fee...

    Down to Earth healthy advice.

I saw an advert for this or a similar product on social media and lots of comments were asking about the risk of electric shock from a faulty installation earth. Apparently they have a 1MΩ resistor in line with the connection between the sheet and the installation earth.

    Fluke T130 on loose wires

I used to see borrowed neutrals from the socket ring most commonly where often but not exclusively wall lights had been added. The live was taken from the switch and the neutral from a nearby socket. It’s rare to see these days especially since the advent of RCDs but still not unknown. As...

Wiring new house but windows and doors late, foxes chewing wires?

Get a roll of chicken wire or that galvanised wire stuff farmers use for fences for the openings if you’re concerned about animals coming in. Foxes are similar to dogs aren’t they? I wonder if that spray they stops puppies chewing your furniture would work for keeping foxes away?

3 phase neutral to earth 230v.

Yes I’d agree with flameport. Definitely sounds like a borrowed neutral. Are you isolating the circuit with a 4 pole isolator? Have a look around and see if there are any other pieces of kit which stop working when you isolate your supply. I had this a few years ago in an old mill. The lift...

    Consumer unit certification rip-off?

I can’t imagine it costs much to actually do an MOT it’s just looking and a bit of testing, but I’d imagine having premises, ramps, testers, training, registration to be an MOT centre as well as filling in and logging the report is where the majority of all the cost is incurred so your breakdown...

    Consumer unit certification rip-off?

What is unreasonable about explaining what overheads I and every other professional electrician have to contend with? Hopefully this will help the OP understand why they are being quoted what they are.

    Consumer unit certification rip-off?

For me to issue the certificate for a consumer unit replacement I have to buy a tester (£1000) and then go on an inspection and testing course (£1350) and lose 7 days work whilst attending the course (£2100) then I need to join a competent person scheme (£630) and lose another days work for the...

    Consumer unit certification rip-off?

I’ve been in this game a long time and have learned how to sniff out a wrongun a mile off. I’ve built up a reputation so I have enough work working for nice people and can steer clear of the tyre kickers.

    Consumer unit certification rip-off?

I’m saying the customer who thinks he knows how to spec and price the job has said the materials will be £100 so the other £600 must be profit, without any concept of what is actually required or that the electrician has overheads.
