So I can do it both ways to be safe? Also is it possible to put a cap on the lockshield valve side, is it possible from water to come from that side aswell?

Cheers but this is getting confusing, Can I just turn the thermostat around to "off" then screw the compression stopend over it? will this work or have I got it wrong?
