    consumer unit rcb

I am not sure what the non RCD protected circuit is, but am interested to know what! As someone suggested it could well be the mcb that is removed which is labelled sockets. Im guessing the only way is to turn it off and see what stops working? I have no mains powered smoke alarms or...

    consumer unit rcb

I have recently moved into a new house and the electrics were periodic checked beforehand and everything was ok. Just wondered if someone could explain a bit about the switches on the consumer unit. I am aware of the circuits on MCB which are labelled. My questions are: 1.) Judging by...

    loft ventilation question

I plan to fit circular vents to the eaves of the house, however can only do it myself on one side of the house due to obstructions for ladder use. I already have a ridge vent. My question - is there any benefit from installing vents on one side of the house, or more importantly is there any...

    Aqualisa shower dripping...

think its under 5 years. Was in the house when we moved in. Just wondered as I hear them mentioned quite a bit on here. Haven't noticed anything special about it myself apart from letting you know when the temp is right! And the boost button doesn't seem to do anything!

    system boiler hot water question

but thanks, only just moved into the property with the set up so just getting the hang of it. I did have it set up for the hot water to come on 30 min before the heating which seemed to work fine. I tried it tonight with heating and water on at the same time and the wife complained that the...

    Aqualisa shower dripping...

My aqua Lisa shower has the same problem so would also be interested in solutions to this. The shower is from the 'Rise' range of showers. Shower is fed from stored hot water, and there is a power box in the loft with water connections to it.

    system boiler hot water question

I have a worcester greenstar 18i system boiler which is attached to a honeywell programmable unit. The programmer has the ability to heat water and central heating at set times. Is it advisable to set the hot water to heat at a time when the heating is not on, or can they both be on at the...

    system boiler heating question

One more question - Is it more economical to set the programmer of the system boiler to heat hot water at the same time as the heating is on? Or should I set the hot water to heat up separately? thanks

    system boiler heating question

I have just moved into a new house that has a Worcester 18i condensing system boiler. I have only ever been used to combi boilers in the past, so the idea of heating stored water is new to me. On a typical storage tank for a 3 bed property can anyone recommend how long i should programme the...

Would this type of roof be safe to stand on (pic)

Thanks for the replies. Looks like a scaffold is the best bet. A simple maintenance job seems to of turned into a bit of a faff. If im going to spend money I might as well get someone in to fit upvc facias/soffits as fitting circular soffit vents was another task i had planned.

Would this type of roof be safe to stand on (pic)

I will soon be moving into a new house and am planning to paint the facias and soffits. Problem is the ground floor roof tiling looks like it would make it an unsafe angle to put a ladder against the brick wall. Was thinking I might be able to climb out the bedroom window and stand on the...
