loft ventilation question

I plan to fit circular vents to the eaves of the house, however can only do it myself on one side of the house due to obstructions for ladder use. I already have a ridge vent.

My question - is there any benefit from installing vents on one side of the house, or more importantly is there any negative effect in doing it?

Some vents are better than none.

Can you not install roof vents on the opposite elevation?
