Airflow Icon 30, flaps do not close

I have 4x Airflow Icon 30 fans installed in my house and all 4 seem to have the same issue. All have the timer/humidity/pull cord module (part number 72687103) and are wired up to also come on when the bathroom lights come on. The issue I have is that when the fan eventually turns off...

Finishing and sealing surround for windows and doors

I've decided to get this foam gun (https://www.screwfix.com/p/no-nonsense-pu-foam-applicator-gun/6831h) to help fill the gaps around the window frames. I thought foam was just foam but there seems to be dozens of choices from different types of adhesion and whether it is low or high expansion...

Finishing and sealing surround for windows and doors

Size from outside and inside looks okay to me. It's just the gap on the interior side between the frame and the wall that needs to be filled and then finished.

Finishing and sealing surround for windows and doors

My question wasn't just about finishing but also about the sealing. I mentioned using expanding foam, others have also mentioned this as this would insulate. Don't want to get into the details but the company are not coming back to finish this so I need to complete it in DIY fashion. Expanding...

Finishing and sealing surround for windows and doors

Looks like someone didn't read the first paragraph of the opening post. I'll paste it here for you: "I'm unable to get them to come back to finish it off" :D

Finishing and sealing surround for windows and doors

Long story short: I instructed a company to put in new windows and doors. They did most of it but it was quite sloppy and in a few areas they haven't finished. I'm unable to get them to come back to finish it off so I'm looking at finishing it off in DIY fashion. There's two windows where there...

Advice needed on drilling precisely lined up holes

Thanks for all the advice. I'm not sure it's worth correcting for this doorbell. It seems pretty secure with just 3 out of 4 screws so this is fine for now. But plenty of tips to help avoid the same mistake in future. Thank you.

Advice needed on drilling precisely lined up holes

I did try the technique already to loosen all screws and tighten each a little at a time but this didn't work as the angle on the misaligned one is too much. Will definitely try a smaller bit for guide hole too. I don't have an SDS drill but I'm curious as to how that would have helped? Is my...

Advice needed on drilling precisely lined up holes

Context: I have relatively basic knowledge of DIYing. I tried to install a wireless Ring doorbell onto a brick wall. I placed the device on the brick and ensured it was level with my trusty spirit level, marked up the 4 screw holes using a pencil. I double checked the hole markings twice to...

    Incompatible basin trap

I might not be able to get a decent plumber in to fix this for a while (for financial reasons). So any eyesore from the current plumber's work will have to be lived with for a while.

    Incompatible basin trap

I'm talking about what the current plumber has done with the trap he has used. The current trap doesn't cover the square hole cut for the waste pipe.

    Incompatible basin trap

Thanks for all the replies. Very helpful and educational. On a side note, is it just me or does the square cut out for the waste pipe seem sloppy? Surely cutting a round hole just big enough for the pipe would be better? This now square hole now needs to be filled in and won't look as tidy :-(

    Incompatible basin trap

For what it's worth, I took the trap off the waste pipe and this is what it has. So this is using a solvent weld with a compression fitting on the trap? This is a great suggestion. I wouldn't trust the current plumber to do this so I will have to make do with his work and get a more competent...

    Incompatible basin trap

Ah okay, I didn't realise there were different types of fitting for the waste pipe. So if I understand correctly, the waste pipe connection can either be a screw fit or a push fit. The chrome trap I originally bought might have been screw fit on the waste pipe so that wouldn't have worked. I'll...

    Incompatible basin trap

I have a new wall hanging basin that needs a trap. The underside will be visible so I wanted to have a nice chrome looking bottle trap like this: https://www.screwfix.com/p/1-bottle-trap-chrome-plated-32mm/10004 I purchased the above trap and left it for the plumber to fit. However, the plumber...

increase interior door height to accomodate standard height doors

I can't see any mention on their website that they do made to measure FD30 doors.

increase interior door height to accomodate standard height doors

Made to measure doors have a huge lead time of up to 20 weeks. I've rung numerous companies and it's the same response. They all seem to get their doors from companies in other countries. They're also a huge cost. I'd rather put that cost towards the work of getting the door way increased to...

increase interior door height to accomodate standard height doors

I'm in pretty much the same boat. What did you do in the end? If you raised the doorways, how much did it cost so I have a rough idea for myself? Thanks

What kind of metal to repair cracked headphone band?

For under £6, this might do the job: https://www.screwfix.com/p/manrose-150mm-round-ducting-0-35m/686gy Enough to repair both headphones and have some left over for future repairs too. I'll report back how I go. Thanks for everyone's advice and comments.
