    13 amp plug overheating

Yes although it seems to take some time for the fuse to blow and so the burning wasn't seen by me initially. To be fair my daughter didn't tell me straight away and just kept changing the fuse!

Yes it's random, and there's around 25 customers per week

    13 amp plug overheating

Unfortunately I'm not local at the moment and my daughter is abroad until Thursday. I'll get her to take a photo and I'll post it for reference. When replacing the plug I did ensure to terminate securely and also check that the fuse was a tight fit as my first thoughts were dodgy connections on...

    13 amp plug overheating

Yes that's the one, must admit when I saw it I couldn't see too much that would make it 'heavy duty', any recommendations for a more substantial plug, once we get to the bottom of this I'd prefer to have something that is genuinely heavy duty.

    13 amp plug overheating

I think it's 14 meters, and it's loose not coiled. I would need to check the csa, it was bought from screwfix.

    13 amp plug overheating

Length of time was a thought that I had although the van was professionally converted and should have taken that into account. The plug is a screwfix 13 amp heavy duty affair and I terminated it myself and whilst I'm not a spark, I am confident that at least my fitting is good. Maybe the plug...

    13 amp plug overheating

The 240 volt comes from the supply of a clients house. Not sure about the rest of your info as that lost me a bit; the heater is portable with its own 13 amp plug which is plugged into a normal 3 pin socket inside the van. Really it's a glorified hair drier.

    13 amp plug overheating

There are no other loads on at the same time apart from the internal led ceiling lights with amount to 35w. The van has a bath heater and shower pump but I made sure that she has these switched off whilst using the drier to reduce any excess current draw. Current check with a clamp meter seems...

    13 amp plug overheating

Hope someone can shed some light on this please. My daughter runs a dog grooming van and has an issue with a 13 amp 'heavy duty' 3 pin plug getting hot and sometimes blowing the fuse. This tends to happen when she is using a dog drier which has a rating of 2400 watts. The van has the circuit...

    secure toilet pan

I am installing (diy) a 'back to concealed cistern unit' toilet pan. All of the plumbing is done and I'm ready to fit the pan. My concern is with regard to securing it to the floor, the pan has screw holes in the side. The concern is that the floor is a concrete base with underfloor heating...

    Two FCU's on a spur?

Doing some work (not electric) in my Daughters house which involved lifting the floor. I noticed that there was a 2.5mm T&E spur coming from a double socket on the ring main which goes to a 13 amp FCU, from the FCU to two double sockets, from the second socket to another switched FCU which has a...

old drywall walls with no studs

Thanks for your reply. Yes the rad is attached to the nightmare wall via cavity wall plugs, I was just wondering about options when fixing stuff to walls when this type of wet wall has been fitted; your broom handle idea is handy, thanks. I have never come across this type of wall before, must...

old drywall walls with no studs

This post didn't seem to fit any forum category so aplogies if it's in the wrong section. My daughter bought wet wall for hwr bathroom and muggins has been tasked to make it work! I'm not particularly happy with the wet wall as it is the hollow pvc type (pic attached) however, it's what we've...

    Outdoor underground cable

That's no problem. It is armoured cable for sure and the ducting runs to the house, judging by the position of where the duct finishes the direct line to the house goes under lawn/gravel driveway. The bit that can be seen in the pics is the end of the duct by the garage and the cable going to...

    Outdoor underground cable

Got a few question out of interest please. I have a detached garage about 10 metres from the house. There is an electric supply which is beneath the ground and I remember that there was a duct in place for this purpose as the house/garage was being built. I was never entirely happy that the...

    Thermostatic mixer shower cold feed

Thank you al for your replies. Yes there has been a 'normal boiler' pre combi all the old tanks etc have been left in the loft! Maybe an electric shower at one point. I'll just take the cold feed from under the bath via a service valve. Thanks again

    Thermostatic mixer shower cold feed

Thanks for your reply Chris. I was just guessing that the pipe circled blue was the one that went into the loft and to the cold feed of the shower as it seemed to be in the right place! I just can't understand why the shower cold supply comes all the way from the area of the boiler across the...
