Do you have a Magnaclean or similar? That's the best way to add inhibitor and for sampling to test. If not might be worth getting one. Adding inhibitor via the F/E tank it's not easy to get it into the system where it's needed. Otherwise might be worth getting an injection kit

In the link it says "The fault was reported to UK Power Networks earlier that day, but the company did not cut the power." That's where they went wrong IMO.

As Madrab said, pathetic. The flush float valve is adjustable, so the standout from the cistern can be matched with the original. Have you still got the elbow pipe? Easy enough to change it, especially with the valve right there, which isn't always the case. Edited

I hope you've kept the old pump. If so why not dismantle it, easy to do on the bench, and tell us if there are any obvious faults, eg blocked impeller.
