I've had another look at manual today, if the heating thermistor is faulty I can now see why this would affect HW. The burner is going off and on, this could be down to the primary thermistor shutting it down

My next door neighbor just chapped the door asking me to look at his boiler as someone from a large firm has been out and turned it off. The flue turret that fits to the top of the boiler is split below the FGA nipple, is this categorised as AR, it's on the air inlet side of things ? Thanks
