    Star Lighting in ceiling

I've fitted these these in the past 1mm drill bit, 100's of holes, a lot of F'in & B'in and job was a goodun  I wired a socket above the ceiling, and controlled the unit via a remote control switch (lazy) :D

    low volltage fire rated downlights

I'd just go with the cheaper ones. You'll need to ensure the new fittings will fit the existing holes.

Raidial and Ring from same fuse?

You can only have one socket "spurred" from your 30A fuse. Are there any spare ways in your fuse box that you could connect the radial circuit to? One way to make it safer is to put the lot in a 20 fuse, not ideal and may not be suitable for your power consumption but that way the cables will...

Ikea Ceiling Lamp into Ceiling Rose

The hook (which they sell separately for some reason) will be fixed to the ceiling after you completely remove your ceiling rose - base and cover. Ideally there should be a joist you can screw into to avoid using plasterboard fixings I'm presuming its a plaster ceiling and not concrete? Are...

    B&Q lighting dept

Few months back I fitted GU10 LED lamps in a persons house, they were bought from B&Q, in a silver packet, I was surprised as LED's are normally crap but these were pretty good. Cant remember the name of them but I was told they were £13 a pop and she had bought 6 of them. A lot of £££ for a...

    Possible Price ?

As above, if your D.B's not got/cant take RCD protection in it that will need to be addressed. Also think about any lighting you may want under/above the units. Costing depends on alot of factors, its very difficult to quote a job if you cant see it. If its brick walls all the boxes will need...

electric hob wired to cooker point - reassurance required

Ideally you want to change the cooker point (CCU) to a switched FCU( spur), or replace with a single socket and put a plugtop on it. I'm presuming rating of the cooker is 13amps? If all else fails read the instructions

Concerns on pre-insulated crimp terminals on solid conductor

I'm never a fan of crimps, they never feel totally "right". I know its seems the preferred method of joints but atleast with decent connector block you know you can get a solid sound connection.
