Can anyone comment on the difference between Halolite and Lytlec downlights in Screwfix?

Halolite are over three times the price, but Lytlec have a 5 year warranty...

On 15 lights the price differential is significant!

Ah - sorry - you said "low voltage". http://www.diynot.com/wiki/electrics:voltage-bands

We have a BIG kitchen!
I can't imagine how big it must be to need 750W of lighting.

How many watts does it currently have?

If you used lights which are actually designed to do the job of providing room illumination, rather than designed to do the job of producing narrow beams of light to highlight, or spotlight specific features or display items you'll find that you won't be running up large electricity bills, you won't have patchy uneven lighting, and you won't have a ceiling full of tiny holes which will, before too long, be as good a selling point in a house as stone cladding.

Instead of 15 little recessed torches, consider a much smaller number of these, or similar:

I'd just go with the cheaper ones.
You'll need to ensure the new fittings will fit the existing holes.
