No Bonding to my gas pipe - is it worth adding one ?

Hello ebee, I've discussed this before so don't really wish to rake over the old coals again, but i did contact my local Building safety & Standards office ( as my Local Authority Building Controlis now calling itself up here in Scotland ) . I dicussed at length the scope of the work to be...

I would like to have a single Non RCD protected socket in my house. This will be use purely for testing purposes, predominantly periodic testing of RCD plug type adaptors. All of the socket outlets in my household are currently RCD protected from a split load CU. I do have 3x Non RCD...

    Loft lighting

I had a single light switch and bulb , but decided to expand it with a couple of extra light fittings. I found using a 30 amp Junction box was the easiest method for sorting out the wiring. Supply spur and switch cable in , 3 x lighting cables out.

wiring three lights to a single switch

The 7w lights are now in two bedside table lamps and the loft now has 3 x 11w CFL's fitted . 7w lamps aren't very bright and I needed more light up in the loft :D ! The existing light used 2.5 T&E which was a bit heavy for squeezing a couple of extra lights so i re-did the whole lot in...

No Bonding to my gas pipe - is it worth adding one ?

Noted. This CU is totally dedicated to supplying power to my Hi-Fi System. I went for a seperate CU several years ago ( on advice) after suffering from mains noise. It turned out to be (several ! ) faulty control boards on my Worcester-Bosch combi boiler, i think they were destroying themselves...

No Bonding to my gas pipe - is it worth adding one ?

OK I've done a bit more grubbing around in the dust. I did fit the new Main Bonding cable to the Gas Pipe and also updated some of my other bonding connections, most of which where done by previous occupants and tradesmen i might add. Quite a few of the cross bonding clamps in various...

wiring three lights to a single switch

Cheers Chris, I'd already set aside a couple of lengths of spare T&E in anticipation of doing this, but thought i'd double check. The 2 new 7w lamps and pendants are sitting on the table right next to me so that decision was already made :) , two new 7w lights are better than no lights :D

wiring three lights to a single switch

There is an existing single light in my loft, it looks like it is supplied via a junction box tapped into the upstairs lighting circuit. i.e. a three way JB with a supply cable then going to a pull cord switch with a pendant light next to it. The pendant light fitting and pull cord...

Test Instrument Calibtration - How frequently ?

Hello, Been giving this a little more thought and have come up with a little schematic/plan as illustrated below: One of my problems is that i don't have any non RCD protected sockets in the house any more, however I do have a couple of spare ways on the non RCD side of my CU and so could...

    (Electrician's) Tools of choice

When it comes to snips and cutters i now only ever buy Knipex. Most of the stuff i have to cut at work is stainless steel, either securing/locking wire, or split-pins, Knipex snips do split-pins like a knife through butter. Most of the electrical Cu/Al wires that i deal with at work are...
