    Trade carpet suppliers

I'm just trying to think of a local carpet shop that still exists around here, the one I was thinking about was recently knocked down and turned into flats. and more often than not buy direct from manufacturers not through wholesalers. What percentage of carpet is imported to the UK ?? surely...

    Trade carpet suppliers

Thanks for the comment, but are independant shop's not out there to supply home owners ... and trade buyers go to the same place the shops buy from, trade suppliers would have a Rep. you would get advice from, just as we do with lots of other suppliers, why is the supply of Carpet any different...

Rotten cills - Fibre Glass Resin

The wood hardener is good stuff, stiffens up rotten wood well. The mitres on the external cills have opened up, taking the filler with them, water has been penetrating through - normally a lead flashing would stop water penetration into the bay barrel brick work below - however the windows were...

"Who did this gland ?" - soldering my banjo ...

M4 even with a 4mm lug hole will fit poor on a banjo but it does get done sometimes, m4 washers will barely cover the 6mm banjo hole. Curses - so back to the drawing board. Note - I certainly would not accept a solder tinned wire end into a crimped lug, or in a terminal, or trapped under a nut...

    Trade carpet suppliers

Hi, I am about to carpet a few rental properties, in the past I have used the likes of Carpet Right, they have proved convenient - you can walk in and walk out with carpet, but its time to change. Your proper Builders Merchants (Selco Excluded), if your in the trade you know the sublte and not...

"Who did this gland ?" - soldering my banjo ...

... Pan Head Screws, sorry ... it should have read that ... M6 ???? sourcing Brass screws, nuts and washers was quite difficult - in M4, would the Round Hole Lug size not dictate the diameter of the threaded clamp, but yes get the logic of a larger size. The SWA is 2.5mm², but 4mm earth...

"Who did this gland ?" - soldering my banjo ...

My electrician drew my attention to some SWA termination going into metal enclosures ... in a dimly lit and unfinished outbuilding he asked ... "who did this gland ?" An earth cable was soldered to the banjo, my Electrician has insisted the earth cable be crimped to a round hole lug and an M4...

No EIC for recent Flat conversion

So 'Part P' is the Building Regulations legislation written into law, and under it sits the 'guidance' notes 'Approved Document P', which makes perfect sense now. The notification tof certain works to BC - again is as you say Section 12(6A) of that written Law.

1930's painted door stripping - and a pigs ear.

Yes we have just taken the door off to do outside, with a heat gun - it stunk doing it inside - plus all the dried paint crisps everywhere. Two of us are going to get stuck in later today, given up with the sander and paint stripper as primary stripping means. Saying all that though, after...

No EIC for recent Flat conversion

Agree mis-information should be corrected, or at least debated, after all this a 'forum' I didn't know they are two different things, if that is what you are saying: 'Part P' and 'Approved Document P'.

1930's painted door stripping - and a pigs ear.

Something that appears really simple ... but its not. I've had a man on a couple of solid wood doors that simply needed repainting. They are 1930's solid timber, one side has many layers of paint on. So far he has spent a day and a half on just one side, he has tried sanding, then paint...

    Gaps between block paving clogged

Umm, thats an interesting point, but 24 hours after the last rainfall I still have the ponding - I will assume the grounds saturation must abate after so many hours without rainfall.

    Gaps between block paving clogged

I have ponding in 3 areas of recently laid block paving, I suspect is due to clogging. Marshalls SuDs Development manager states: "Clog easily and stop working We have been installing permeable paving for over 15 years and in all that time, we have never experienced any issues with clogging."...

Rotten cills - Fibre Glass Resin

Other than cutting out and inserting timber, you are more of less stuck with filling or covering the sills The GRP roofing products are designed to be in the sun, so would have thought that a good solution ... is that the covernig you refer to ? did you use the wood hardener first? No, only...

Rotten cills - Fibre Glass Resin

I have a property with some expensive Everest Aluminium windows, sadly some of the cills area a bit rotten, after filling with ronseal 2 part filler, and painting - after 5 months of the south facing summer sun it has cracked the paint, and the filler has lifted. It gets very hot in the summer...

No EIC for recent Flat conversion

I note on the EICR "25% of the installation in accordance with item 3.8.4 of Guidance Note 3." I think it was discussed above that he should test 100% of the installation, I did discuss this with him, and assumed that is what he had done, but it appears not now I have the certificate, any...
