    Groaning boiler !! Savio/Biasi 428S

Sulphamic acid is a fairly strong acid used for descaling hot water systems and is a crystal like compound that is mixed with warm water and used to circulate around scaled up heat exchangers in commercial boilers! I have some in the shed! It may have other uses but the stuff I have is not for...

    Audi A3 Fault code

Pretty sure it was the same code. My wife had the engine management light reset a few times by ATS, they said it was engine emissions which I presume is the same code!

    Audi A3 Fault code

Been having same problem with wife's 2007 2.0 fsi. I put some BG44k (fuel system cleaner £20) in with a full tank of petrol and it cleared the engine management light. It also cleans injectors and carbon sensors (so I'm told). It has made a vast difference with acceleration! However it...

    Interfering Wireless Thermostat

These definitely do have problems with interference from other wireless devices! The manufacturer will confirm this. I've fitted a couple in the past and had to take the pins out to give it a more unique channel. I don't them anymore!

Does This Price Sound Okay (Combi Boiler Replacement)?

Let's be honest, nobody on here has actually physically seen the job! That price may be spot on, it may be slightly overpriced or it may be way overpriced. £150 for extra bits is way off the mark, the filter is gonna be close to £100 alone, then there's the clock, the stat, cleaner, inhibitor...

Feeder and Expansion - Vent Pipe

Oops, didn't even realise it was an f&e tank, think it was because I looked at the close up pics! Feel stupid now! Oh well not the first time!

Feeder and Expansion - Vent Pipe

As Stem says, gate valve not an issue as this is not on the vent. If the valve was turned off then the it would not stop it venting. The main problem looks like feed from the tank to the hot water cylinder has been capped and the feed now goes down to cylinder via the vent pipe which would also...

Gas central heating Boiler - Copper or Plastic Pipes

It should be run in copper, you need to get the installer back at his cost as its his mistake. Were they gas registered? If it is a poor installation then they were probably inexperienced or poor installers and you may have a problem getting them back!

    Bathroom radiators help needed please

It's common practice to run a bathroom rad on the hot water circuit so that in summer you can dry towels etc on the rad in summer when the heating is not required. Also where Trv's are fitted on a system then if no auto bypass is fitted then a radiator fitted without a Trv would act as bypass...

stability of compression joint for exposed shower

i would reccomend jet blue plus, suitable for potable water. Hand tight then half turn, then turn on water and check for leaks, if any turn another quater. Better not to overtighten straight away!

    One radiator not getting hot

As you say, try closing of all rads except that one. Next i would try closing off problem rad and removing rad, then pull some water off each valve by opening valve up and running to a bucket. Also while youve got the rad off take outside, turn it upside down and stick a hose in one end and...

Macdee AFV100, AFV40200 Water Level overflow

Needs new washer. Or just replace the side entry inlet valve. Think its a si-amp inlet valve although havent fixed toilets for years. if you turn the water off you can turn the circular ring with the notches in it and remove it to allow removal of washer. Take washer to local merchant or B&Q and...

    Draining a combi boiler system

why dont you choose a radiator downstairs close to an external door and turn off the rad and then drain it simply by putting a tray under it(something like a paint roller tray). Once the radiator has drained you can remove it and then attach a hose to one of the radiator valves on then open the...

Why are some radiators not getting hot?

Can you trace the return pipes? Have you closed rads valves off, removed rads and opened return valves to see what flow is like. If no flow try connecting mains pressure Hose to return valve and open end on flow valve (attach hose this side and run to outside) and blasting with mains pressure...

    New Water pipe -25mm

If you get fed up of digging, you can hire a man and a digger for about £150 a day. I get them dig up, I lay new pipe and they back fill. A five meter trench takes about hour and half! I leave a metre square trench where new pipe to enter property and finish off, obviously leave a few meters of...

    Location of External Expansion Vessel

I would still try re-pressurising the vessel first, just because water comes out doesn't mean it's knackered. It can be condensation in the bladder, there could easily be one litre of water in there caused by condensation!
