Not sure if this is the correct section to post this, apologies if it's not.

Had a gas central heating boiler fitted and have since had to get repairs done under warranty.
Different engineers came out on both occasions, and both told me that the first metre of pipe coming out of the boiler should be copper. The installer had used plastic.

I realise this is because of potential problems with heat from the boiler.

What I need to know is, where do I stand with getting the installer to replace these pipes at his expense ?

Is the copper piping a recommendation only (a good to have) or
is it a minimum industry standard (a must have).
Be grateful for any advice so that I know what my approach to installer will be.
Thanks in advance

All manufacturer's instructions should be followed. Including those of pipes and fittings.

If he doesn't respond to gentle nudges call gas safe for a free inspection.

If he was dumb enough to do that, then there are going to be many other issues lurking that GSR will haul him up for.

It should be run in copper, you need to get the installer back at his cost as its his mistake. Were they gas registered? If it is a poor installation then they were probably inexperienced or poor installers and you may have a problem getting them back!

Thanks for that guys. I've managed to get in touch with installer (lives around the corner from me), now I know I can approach the situation on the front foot.
Cheers again. :D

Its good practice!

BUT only mandatory IF the makers instructions ask for it, not all do !
