    shower problem

Cant quite tell by the picture but is the yellow plunger actually pushing the microswitch when the unit is activated ? It looks like the yellow plunger is wedged under the body of the microswitch. Just a guess but worth checking the operation (with the power off of course).

    Lidl Thermostatic Shower Problem

That shower will work fine for 6-12 months then it will start sticking and you won't get a decent temperature regulation. You'll then think "fine - its got a 5 year warranty" and then spend the next 4-5 months chasing companies in Italy, getting fobbed off by Lidl, receiving wrong parts when...

magnaclean, to be or not to be (from a girl!!)

Having done some tests on my own heating system, if funds allow it I'll almost certainly be putting a Magnaclean on my system when I have a new boiler fitted. Some pics and video on the link below http://www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=185286

    Boiler previously condemned ?

If I could find an 18Kw combi boiler that would limit the wife to not having everything on full I would  We've got a 4 bed detached house which is reasonably well insulated but only use 2 bedrooms for most of the time, have a bath maybe once a year (showers are the norm here) so don't...

    Boiler previously condemned ?

We tend to try and save water rather than pretend we're in an Amazon rainforest  I measured the flow of a shower I was having (roughly) and it was less than 10 litres a minute (around 8 max)

    Albion Mainsflow faulty heat exchanger

I think this is the most important sentence in this whole thread. If you are getting mains fed water being pushed into the store due to a leak, by switching off the feed from the cold water supply, you are running the risk of the contaminated heating water being fed through your hot tap. It...

    Boiler previously condemned ?

Boiler is being replaced as the system includes a thermal store which has rotted at every seam, joint and connection, the immersion has corroded through and is dripping water, the thermostat on the thermal store fell to bits so I've got a "strap on" doing the job at the moment. With a cost of...

    Boiler previously condemned ?

Well this is a Potterton Prima F 50 For 2 years after we moved in, it had trouble igniting, would sometimes take up to half an hour before the boiler lit constantly cycling. There is also a bit of flu missing (the bit that goes in the middle) - there is just a hole there when all the...

Did they attempt to service the boiler themselves / were they Gas Safe registered ?

    Boiler previously condemned ?

I think that would be a great idea but I'm not a gas installer so don't know your side of the industry. It would certainly stop (or deter) people from trying to pull a fast one when they come to sell a property and if the worst did happen and someone was killed or injured down to this persons...

The best tool I've found for silicon sealant

Found this by accident when I was redoing the bathroom. I was using one of these to scrape the old silicon off the bath (without scratching it) and when I came to refitting found the radius on the corners were perfect for getting a neat silicon seal finish. They have 3 different radius edges...

    Boiler previously condemned ?

Thanks for the replies guys. There was more than just the heating problems covered up when we bought this house. A couple of weeks after we moved in the neighbours told us that the previous occupants had some people over to sort out the windows. A year later we found out that they had...

    Boiler previously condemned ?

I'm having a whole new system fitted next month. I was just curious if there was somewhere that condemned appliances were registered so it could be checked out when it was actually condemned.

How do you apply silicone sealant PROFESSIONALLY?

There we go - $2.95 for a set of three but obviously substitute the $ for a £ here in the UK https://www.pamperedchef.com/ordering/prod_details.tpc?prodId=241&words=scraper

How do you apply silicone sealant PROFESSIONALLY?

"Pampered Chef" do a stoneware pan scraper that has the exact dimensions needed to get a perfect finish on silicone sealant. It even looks similar to those fugi kits. They have 3 radiuses on them and one 90 degree corner. I discovered this by accident but they do make a near perfect finish.

    Boiler previously condemned ?

Is it possible to find out if a boiler has previously been condemned ? I have my suspicions that the previous occupants may have told a few porkies about the system to help sell the house. There are the remnants of a sticker across the boiler that I've noticed recently. Ta Dom

Why to use a Magnaclean ? Pictures and Video

I've read up a lot on thermal stores in the past and it seems the biggest problem is the consumer/heating engineer underestimating the amount of treatment to put in them for both flushing and inhibitor afterwards hence the "early" failure of the system. I know some other locals here have put...

Why to use a Magnaclean ? Pictures and Video

I know that after draining the heating system for the first time it refused point blank to fill back up again. Turned out the ballcock arrangment at the top had scaled up solidly so a quick trip to B&Q and £5 later I had it going again (albeit with a small leak on the ballcock to mains inlet...
