I was following that thread as well - would be interested in the outcome.

Shires close coupled toilet - strange doughnut ?

Had a leak in the cold water inlet pipe a month and a half ago. Insurance dragged their heels and I finally gave up and decided to do it myself. Bath is in nice, solid and sealed. Sink is in with new taps. Toilet was last to go in but its proving to be a nightmare. Firstly replaced the...

New combi install or replacement Thermal Store ?

Controls are sorted - I have a room stat with timer which I fitted a week ago. I went to school with someone who is quite high up at Broag so will give him a yell next week and do some begging ;)

    Noisy Neighbours...

The sound is a bit distorted but could that be air in the system ? If the boiler is the highest part of the system, any air is prone to collect at the top. I could be totally wrong but its worth a check.

New combi install or replacement Thermal Store ?

Biggest problem is budget. I can just about scrape to a Broag 35C with installation but it is literally scraping it. I'll see next week if I can bag a Broag a bit cheaper than standard retail but I'm veering towards the combi as I can make use of the airing cupboard space for another project.

Potterton prima F 50F not firing

Had a very similar problem as you (for the past 2 years) http://www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=1039077#1039077 Only attempt the repair if you are 100% certain you know what you're doing. For the sake of less than a quids worth of parts it could be worth a go.

New combi install or replacement Thermal Store ?

Having a bit of a rethink about our current heating system. The boiler looked like it was on its last legs and the existing thermal store was starting to leak around the immersion/thermostat/pipework. Initial plan was to scrap the thermal store and existing Potterton Prima F50 and replace...

    Woscter 28i rsf boiler

If you get hot water fine but no heating then its worth looking at the diverter valve. This switches the hot water between the heating circuit and the DHW

    Small boiler recommendations

Have you seen the size of the Broag boilers ? The 28c is 27kg and pretty small.

c/h wont come on after power cut

Could be a blown fuse. A lot of the time when power cuts happen there is a bit of a surge when the power comes back on which can kill a couple of appliances in your home. When I was an IT manager we used to lose 2-3 machines each power cut with blown power supplies when it all came back on.

    neutral wire in roomstat

Some room stats are semi intelligent i.e. they have electronics in them. A simple (older) stat was just a bimetallic strip which turned on and off depending on heat. On newer electronic thermostats they have electronictrickeryjiggerypokery in them which requires powering. The live and...

    Small boiler recommendations

I'm in a similar situation and veering towards the Broag/Remeha after a hell of a lot of research.

    What does RSF mean ?

Hmmm having a flick through - there is only a 1 year warranty on the Alpha HE33 but at that price you could get a contract with Gritish Bass for servicing etc for a couple of years and not pay any more than the WB boiler.

    What does RSF mean ?

Blimey - you're not kidding. That HE33 is an absolute steal. Just got to find someone in the trade to pick me one up now :(

    What does RSF mean ?

Still very tempted by the Remeha 28kw combi at £700 all in but my installer would prefer the WB

    What does RSF mean ?

Hmm that could explain the lower price of the RSF version. Bummer. Hey ho - I'll keep on looking out for a decent priced combi.

    What does RSF mean ?

Might be a really stupid question and I've done a search but ..... I've got the option of a Worcester Bosch 28i boiler. They seem to come in two flavours - the normal one and a cheaper RSF one. The saving is around £150 buying an RSF version but what is the difference ? Ta Dom

new combi fitted - alot of air in hot water

I used to get this with the combi in my last property - only when the water was above about 50 degrees C though. At lower temperatures it came out clear.

    Price for new combi fitted?

Please bear in mind that I wasnt the original thread starter - I just gave the prices I've been quoted for a Combi install and appear to have unwittingly hijacked the poor original posters thread
