    Workshop Roof Design

I'm currently building a brick workshop, and will shortly need to make a start on the roof. The shed measures 3.8m x 2.4m and ideally i'd like a pitched roof along its length. This would mean i'd have a pitch of approx 20 degrees. I'd like a roof that doesnt look too industrial, so no...

    local paint repair

How bad is the dent? I've seen a very good trick where a guy uses a hair dryer to heat a panel up, gets it good and warm, and then suddently sprays freezer spray on the panel, and the rapid temperature change causes the dent to pop out. Might be worth a try? I think you can find the vid on...

    Airbag issue renault Laguna

The bag won't be in the door, but the sensor which sets the bag off could well be. If you're worried about it, disconnect the battery and leave for 15 mins or so before working in that area, that way its all safe. Any airbag wires will be in a yellow sleeve so you know which ones to be careful...

Are cheap diverter/thermostatic valves a bad idea?

Thanks very much mate, you've confirmed my initial thoughts. I'll stick to the big names then, bristan, mira etc..etc..

Are cheap diverter/thermostatic valves a bad idea?

A diverter valve is a valve that is styled to look like the thermostatic mixer, but allows you to change between different jets, eg body jets, rain head, hand held etc.. Something like this maybe...

Are cheap diverter/thermostatic valves a bad idea?

I'm trying to find a diverter valve and thermostatic shower valve that will allow me to send flow to either a rain shower head in the ceiling or a normal hand held type shower head. However the only ones I can find seem to be either incredibly expensive and old fashioned looking (Mira) or...

massive disagreement with a garage. NEED HELP PLEASE!

Couldnt find an engine from a focus? Focus being one of the most common cars on the road, hmm I smell bullsh1t. Deffo speak to trading standards, he sounds like a bit of a conman.

    Mini

Very common fault with these. Its usually the little relay thats on the bulkhead under the bonnet, on the passenger side. Try that, if that doesn't work, it might be the switch playing up. IIRC there's also a seperate fuse for the hazards, its an inline fuse thats near the carb. HTH

    De Walt drill burning smell

There's plenty of sparks, thats one thing which made me think it would be brushes. Bit suprised how quickly they've gone though.

Running cables in the floor screed.

There is 75mm of insulation, and 75mm of screed going down, so there is the potential to put it 150mm below the floor surface, if I wish to. In total I was planning 4 conduits, two for heating pipes, one for aerial, and one for power. I assumed due to the 17th regs though that it would have...

    De Walt drill burning smell

Ive got a DC988 18 volt dewalt drill, which is absolutely fantastic and about 2 or 3 years old now. It's had a fair bit of use, but no where near what a contractor would put it through. So i'm a bit suprised that lately its started to have an electrical burning smell from the motor vents. Its...

Running cables in the floor screed.

As part of my extension, there is a conservatory going onto the back of the house. On one of the walls in the conservatory i'd like a couple of sockets potentially for a TV in the future. As there is no roof void, and due to the door/wall layout, the only option to get cables there would be to...

I've got a very similar dilema at the moment. But im thinking of putting the cables in the floor screed, obviously in earthed conduit though, I assume that would be ok?

    Cabling in 20mm conduit

I'm planning some work soon with wiring a garage, theres going to be a lot of sockets and other items, so thought i'd use 20 or 25mm conduit and do a nice job of it. I know traditionally, single core cables would be used (old colours), but looking around it doesnt seem to be possible to get...
