Condensate soakaway and feed pipe under driveway

Noted, thanks! Gas, existing CH pipework/future routing, flue location, and the constraints I mentioned all to some or other extent raised my interest in options for the condensate drain location.

Hmmm - I thought there'd be more opining on this :(

Condensate soakaway and feed pipe under driveway

I am trying to plan ahead a bit here, in the case of a condensing boiler when my current bermuda baxi fails, and the possibility that a new tarmac driveway gets done first. Some of my concerns apply which ever project gets done first. Soooo.....if I did set a condensate soakaway, it would sit...

    Oak Veneer Cottage Internal Doors

I used a water-based matt varnish (also on some Wickes internal doors). Went on slightly milky but dried clear. Very happy with the result.

Driveway gravel 'grid' honeycomb cells - level 12x3m approx

Thanks both! Is the ground reinforcement supposed to be exposed, or can the gravel surface sit higher? This may seem a numpty question, but I wonder if the photos (http://www.aco.co.uk/product_detail.php?id=1) are for marketing purposes rather than a typical installed finish.

Driveway gravel 'grid' honeycomb cells - level 12x3m approx

Hopefully this is better here than in Gardens...... There seem to be many products available where driveway gravel is back-filled into a cell-like plastic grid. The grid is supposed to stabilise the gravel. My questions.... 1) Is there a generic term for this approach? This is to help with...

    Ikopro v Everryl v Acrypol

See the thread I started here ... http://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/liquid-acrylic-products-for-flat-roof-refurb-not-leak-repair.457920/#post-3664513 The embedded scrim seemed to be a superior idea to me than just applying goop, but too early to tell endurance-wise. The Wickes stuff with...

Is my Carpet and gripper ok to re-use?

I'd guess that pros would like to use new gripper as the nails are ready, and aren't all half-in-half-out stylee, also they may be more prepared to warranty the work using new gripper. As you say, some of the gripper nails can get bent out of shape, and sometimes laths get broken, so it might...

Is my Carpet and gripper ok to re-use?

You should be fine - but you'll need a knee-kicker.

    Repoint or replace?

    Don't re-point, re-bed.

Thoughts on this roof ultimately collapsing?

Isn't the load taken on the inner leaf? If so those feet are presumably just packing pieces or spacers to support battens and fascias.

How can I fix a snapped aluminium tube?

Epoxy putty might work, and be less messy than resin. More putty could even be formed into a counterbalance, if required. I've used the kind that comes in blister pack 'doses'.

    replacing garage roof.

Agreed! Chipboard will get damp, and when it does it has the structural integrity of weetabix. So not only will you have have a leaking roof, it'll be unsafe for anyone walking about up there. And yes! This is what I found some time ago (evidence of 1970s and 80s building habits), before...

Liquid Acrylic Products for Flat Roof Refurb (not leak repair)

Just in case anyone has an interest in my project, I finished the first phase. This is a job with 2 roofs; ~26sq.m and ~14sq.m in reasonably good order, needing in my DIYer's opinion a bit of a refurb/refresh with a new weathering surface. The roof had no (known) leaks, so I wasn't solving any...

    Roof ladders with solar panels

@ Bernard - hazardous voltages in a PV panel? Just interested, but what fault/failure mechanism did you have in mind? AFAIK panels work at around 20V and that's open circuit/no load. Have they improved recently? Or...... maybe micro-inverter types??

    Felting a Rabbit Hutch Roof

If I understand your question correctly, and that you mean the 'drip' edge, then I found working backwards works well. By that I mean do the edges before the top. (This was on a large shed project, with first layer nailed, and second glued. You don't say if you're gluing or nailing, but I...

Liquid Acrylic Products for Flat Roof Refurb (not leak repair)

@ vinn - erm thanks, but my 'own question' was about comparative merits of those brands over the mentioned price range, per RR's response.... Any fule kno that a new roof is an option
