Have I used the wrong filler?

Thanks Third-Eye, most of the holes are just from rawl-plugs,some about the size of an old penny where the plaster fell off when I pulled the plug out, there are also several scores in the hallway plaster, from someone scoring wallpaper prior to stripping it looks like, and some gouges where...

Have I used the wrong filler?

thanks for the reply, I'll get some polyfilla interior, and use that from now on, most of the holes I filled I dint fill all the way up, thinking to add a final smooth layer rather than sand back, so if I do that with polyfilla I might be okay. as to fine cracks between skirting boards and...

Have I used the wrong filler?

I've been reading the posts on preparing walls ready for painting. I've been filling the holes with Painter's Mate Ready Mixed Flexible Acrylic Filler. Seems like I've used the wrong product, since everyone recommends powdered fillers as easier to sand and lots of the posts say the filler...

    Paint roller frames

I'm looking at paint roller frames and there just seem to be too many choices, are they pretty much all the same and can I go with the cheapest or will I end up with a roller that falls off and an extension poll that wobbles I'm looking for a frame that will take an extension pole and rollers...

    Dont understand undercoats

Thank you so much Spike, I just want to see if I understand correctly. It sounds like the best plan is to 1. Stick with the same brand on any surface - I'm happy to do that and toss the HB paint altogether 2. Always use an undercoat on every surface 3. Use oil-based gloss in preference to...

    Dont understand undercoats

thank you Zampa, very helpful. If I understand you correctly I should always use an undercoat then. I'm still confused about what undercoat to use with gloss, and I'm not sure if my plan to stick to water-based paint is a good one, if I can't use water-based gloss over oil-based gloss. So...

First coat of Zinsser bullseye prime: dilute it?

the vinyl had little ridges running diagonally across it I'm using Zinsser in the kitchen because I believe all the old paint is lead based, so I wanted to seal it

    Dont understand undercoats

Hi, I'm trying to get my head around undercoats and have lots of questions I'm repainting the whole house, walls some painted over with primer, some painted with emulsion, ceilings previously painted with flat matt emulsion, woodwork, previously painted with gloss. What is the difference...

First coat of Zinsser bullseye prime: dilute it?

I did thin the primer and did one coat thinned, then another coat not thinned. I'm planning on doing one more coat of primer as the first coat looks pretty patchy. I want the final coat to be eggshell, should I do an undercoat. I want to use a water-based aggshell paint, are they any good?

First coat of Zinsser bullseye prime: dilute it?

I'm sure that it was vinyl paper, and I'm almost 100% sure it is gloss on the walls, very slick and shiny, very old, probably the original paint from 1948/50 when the house was built

First coat of Zinsser bullseye prime: dilute it?

Hi all and thanks for useful replies to my previous thread about painting my kitchen. It a 1950's semi with possible lead paint and so I'm going to prime all painted surfaces in the kitchen with Zinsser Bullseye I started with the inside of a broom closet, the paint in there was thin and...
