    Swapping plug socket

Non electrician here (no sh1t!) Have bought a new USB plug socket from Screwfix hoping it might be a simple swap. On the new socket I understand the the two red wires are LIVE and go in the L slot and the two black ones are NEUTRAL and go in the N slot and the yellow/green cable goes in the E...

    Replacing dishwasher

I'm looking to replace a (very old!) dishwasher that's finally died. I think this is called a semi-integrated one right? Would this be pretty much a straight swap? https://ao.com/product/hbc2b19xuk-hotpoint-aquarius-standard-dishwasher-stainless-steel-57978-23.aspx

What grass seed should I buy?

I've recently had my annual scarification/aeration and as usual parts of the back garden look like they could do with some extra help but I never know what grass seed I should buy. I tried buying some one and when it grew it looked totally different to the rest! Any ideas? Cheers!

My boiler make this noise every now and then! Any ideas?

It's maybe 20 years old so possibly due for replacement but it works well otherwise. Every few days for half an hour or so after first coming on it does this! Any help hugely appreciated. https://www.icloud.com/photos/#0LWlzWv6aKijOqAcdjlHSVZUA

    Hot water timings/temperature question!

I'm trying to work out how best to heat my hot water. I have a traditional boiler downstairs and hot water tank in the airing cupboard. I live on my own in a 4 bed house. The thermostat on the hot water tank is 60-65 which I believe is the recommended temp. Currently Hive heats the hot water...

Will this doorbell transformer work with Nest Doorbell?!

From the Nest website (https://nest.com/uk/support/article/How-to-tell-if-Nest-Hello-will-work-in-your-home#transformer) it says: Nest Hello needs to be powered by wires delivering 12 - 24 V AC, and at least 8 VA Thanks!

Is this ok?! (joining two wires)

Are you sure? The instructions actually suggest you may need to flip the grip depending on the cable.

Is this ok?! (joining two wires)

Thanks Jackrae - I've got to redo it anyway as I have too much grey cable so will do it better. But the principle is ok?

Is this ok?! (joining two wires)

I have two new ceiling lights in the loft. The power cable comes from a switch into the connector block (to power one light) then a second cable goes out to power the second light. Does this look ok? All fits (just about) but does seem a lot of cable in a small place. Nothing is connected to...

    Where does the Earth go?

Hi all, I've bought two of these for the loft: https://www.lightrabbit.co.uk/new-18-watt-frosted-led-surface-mounted-ceiling-light.html I have a simple light switch and ceiling rose up there already so was just going replace the cable from the switch to a terminal strip in the first light...
