Some radiators on a hot water circuit.

I have just fitted a mid position valve and thermostats on an existing fully pumped, vented, oil fired system. Valve is in boiler house close to pump. On commissioning I have discovered that three radiators on the ground floor extension were plumbed off the indirect hot water circuit and are...

    fixing a basin

You could make life easier for yourself by tiling the wall first and fixing basin and WC cistern to the tiled wall hence avoiding a lot of tile cutting round these items.

    bath tap swap

Your initial suggestion will not be very pretty but it will be hidden by the bath panel I assume and will work if the "guts" are different. All you will need are 3/4inch female to 22mm pushfit flexibles.

    Solar Hot water systems!!

Does your pump stop at sunset or are you now using your panel as a radiator to heat the night sky?? Water in a well insulated cylinder should not drop from 60 to 30 in an hour with no usage.

Large cap between toilet outlet and waste pipe

I fixed my mother's toilet 10 years or more ago. Exactly the same senario. Hasn't leaked since. I cleaned and dried the joint well with a hair drier and the used a good quality bathroom silicone to fill the gap. Didn't flush the loo for at least 12 hrs. Best done last thing at night...

Have you tried one of the ready mixed heavy-duty pastes rather than the ones you mix up with water?

    thermostatic valve question??

bidirectional refers to flow through them. Not all are bidirectional but some of these can be placed vert on flow or horiz on return depending on tail type.

Sink waste into rain drain help

You could lift the manhole as you suggest. If the gully flows into it then try your house sink or toilet as well. If both go into it then you have a combined system and you can connect your proposed sink into the gully.

hot water coming out cold water taps

Some details of type of system would help. You could have a failed thermostat on an immersion heater causing hot cylinder to boil. Switch of immersion heater to check. Have you a cold water storage tank in loft. Feel it. Is it cold?

    Monobloc tap thingy

On the screwfix pic you showed there is a rigid piece about 2 inches long with a hexagonal section at its end before the flexible bit. Can you not tighten this hex with a spanner. The o ring means that you do not need a huge force to seat these properly. Alternatively use the original tails...

    single pipe central heating systems

No experience of this type of system but logic suggests that resistance to flow along the main pipe is so low compared to that through the rad and the contorted return that the water prefers to flow via the main pipe. (I'm assuming that air in the rad is not the problem.) Are you getting any...

Toilet flush and low water attention disorder.

If nothing in the loft then mains fed. You can check as you suggested by turning main stopcock in kitchen and flushing to see if cistern refils. Does picture show existing type or what you propose to replace it with? Pic of inlet valve would help or search web for type that looks like yours.

    Cistern Problem...

Some inlet valves have a filter which may get clogged after pipework is disturbed. Try disnanting valve and cleaning it.

Radiators cold upstairs - hot down

Try closing downstairs rads and see if upstairs heats. If that doesn't work then also close all but one upstairs rads. If that one heats open others one at a time. You may have airlock somewhere so you will need to keep bleeding rads if air lock moves. Hot water in Feed & expansion tank is...

Toilet flush and low water attention disorder.

Only if it is mains fed. If it is fed from cold water tank in loft then you will have to isolate that. It should have a valve on its outlet or failing that you will need to tie up the ballcock and drain down the tank using the cold bath tap. You really should have an isolating valve on the...

    Screaming Boiler!

Sounds like either the fan rubbing on its casing or a problem with the oil pump. Best to call in whoever services it for you as air flow and oil pressure will need to be set up after anything is looked at anyway.
