Getting Power To Wall Mounted TV

So are you saying that if the builders have done their job correctly that there will be no access from above because the adhesive blobs? This messes things up a little as I was planning on dropping other non-electric cables from above and installing speaker cable from above. How do the pro's...

Getting Power To Wall Mounted TV

Hi, Ok so scirting is a no no. So would it be OK to fish it vertically then horizontally behind the plasterboard. I really don't want to dig channels in the plaster as this is a new build I have just bought and do not want my wife to kill me ;) Therefore I am looking at fishing the wire...

Getting Power To Wall Mounted TV

Thanks for the response. I am adding the additional socket in a lounge and will be feeding the wire under the dot and dab to a mounted LCD TV. If possible I will be running the wire behind the scirting then straight up to the TV. Cheers, Gary

    Pulling/Pushing/Fishing Cable

Hi, Well Cat6A is 10gbps certified and offers 550mhz down the copper compared to Cat5's 100mhz and Cat6's 250mhz. This allows much more bandwidth of data to be sent down the wire. Cat6a is also shielded as part of it's specification. Therefore termination at either ends needs to be done with...

Getting Power To Wall Mounted TV

Hi, Can anyone suggest the best way to get power to a wall mounted TV and an HDMI receiver behind it? Should I just create a spur from another lounge socket? or should I extend the individual power cables or even use a plug extension behind the wall? What are the regulations on this...

    Installing Cable In Stud Wall

Well thats the complicated bit. The HDMI source, and AV AMP (speaker source) will be in the study in a server cabinet which is next door to the lounge. The speaker cable will need to go up the study wall and into bedroom 3 above then through the flooring in bedroom 3 and bedroom 2 into the 5...

    Installing Cable In Stud Wall

Thanks ColJack, great info. I was pretty sure using the cavity was a no no ;) And I agree running the cables outside is pretty stupid (as well as very ugly on a new house). I had to laugh the other day when I saw a new build that had a sky install that had just thrown the satellite cables...

    Installing Cable In Stud Wall

Hi, Thanks for the response, I have a picture of the developer logo on my dart board ;) So you say that metal stud walls may not have noggins? If this is the case then this should make upstairs installation a lot easier. How easy is it to fish coax, electrical and cat5/6 cable through...

    Pulling/Pushing/Fishing Cable

Hi, I know :( Been to developers management and constantly being told comeback to us in a couple of weeks when the site is safe. Been through my solicitor and everything, but been told there is nothing that can be done and because we have already exchanged we have no negotiating power :(...

    Installing Cable In Stud Wall

Hi, The developer has been very strict from the beginning not allowing any modifications to the plan and not allowing us access until completion. I spoke to the developer today and was told that they have finished the walls and are about to paint :( They wouldn't even allow me access to just...

    Pulling/Pushing/Fishing Cable

Just got off the phone with the developer and have found out that the downstairs walls will be block work with dot and dab and the upstairs walls will be metal stud walls. Therefore is it still possible to fish cable through dot and dab? Any advice? Do metal studs have holes for cables...

    Installing Cable In Stud Wall

Hi, I will be installing cable (Cat6, Electric and Coax) into a Stud wall from an access point by the floor to a hole by an LCD TV mount on the other side of the room. I've found plenty of US videos showing pitfalls and advice, however I have found no UK advice. Can anyone provide advice...

    Pulling/Pushing/Fishing Cable

Hi, I'm about to move into a new build house and will be installing CAT6A thoughout for both HD and network. For my previous properties I've just gone in from the outside, used loft space and/or used ducting. However for this new one I would like to spend time trying to install the cables...

How Much To Install Pressure Reducing Valve

Hi, Thanks for all your replies :) I know 2 bar is OK, but I don't think the valve is working correctly as putting my finger over the tap and just turning the tap sligtly I get soaked ;) I'm sure the real pressure is much higher. Also turning on any mains fed taps soaks everything. The...

How Much To Install Pressure Reducing Valve

Hi, Recently I have been finding that taps and toilets have been developing leaks one after another. Upon investigation I have found that there is a pressure reducing valve installed in our cellar which states it is set at its minimum of 2 bar. First off I don't think this is correct and if...
