Oil boiler with biomass and accumulator

I have a log boiler that heats an accumulation tank. This then feeds the underfloor heating and a separate pressurised hot water tank that provides the domestic hot water. This all works quite well. However I want to add a backup oil boiler to the system to cater for times when I cannot load the...

Combi Remote Roomstat and Temperature Probe

Hello I am looking for a roomstat for my Honeywell combination boiler. I have a remote stat at the moment which wirelessly communicates with the boiler control. I want to place the timer and temp setting control in a different room to that of the temperature probe, the boiler would also be in...

Plumbing for 2 Manifold UFH System

I have two manifolds for the UFH system. How should these be plumbed. Should the water come out of one and into the other - which would potentially mean that the zones off the first manifold heat before the ones off the second. Or should the both come off of an inlet and out to the same common...

Vigas Biomass Boiler - Changing Sceme

I am trying to get our newly installed Vigas biomass boiler working correctly. I have a hunch that it is not set to the correct scheme as shown in the manual. i believe I need to set it to scheme 1 and the factory setting is scheme 4. However when I follow the instructions in the manual I cannot...

21 Meter Pipe Run - What Size Pipe

I am running pipes from a biomass boiler to the house for hot water and central heating. I have had several different plumbers say different things about the size of pipe - 28mm or 35mm etc. What size should I use?

Radiator valve drain valve locations and number

Where abouts should drain valves be put on the central heating system - i.e. on what radiators. I assume the lowest point or the ones furthest away and if there is more than one ring then on each ring. The lowest point is under floor but I imagine most of the water would be sucked out by...

Bathrom Wall Recess and Cupboard Light

It varies but say 30cm vertical, and 15cm horizontal, I also need a light in a shelving unit that will have towels in it so the height of the towels will be unknown. There is no thermal insulation. I was considering low voltage but can the transformer go inside the wall void. I would prefer...

Bathrom Wall Recess and Cupboard Light

I am looking for lighting to go into some wall recesses in a bathroom. They need to be F-Marked and not get hot as there will be towels etc. stored underneath the lamps - hence they cannot be 50cm from an object if "Minimum distance from illuminated object is 0.5 metre" means that. Any ideas?

    BT Master Socket

I would like to replace the BT Master Socket with nicer looking one. Now the current socket has A and B. The replacement ones I see have the six terminals. How do these relate to each other? I know you are not supposed to replace the BT Master Socket so this is simply theoretical I will...

    Wiring on Exposed Brick Walls

I am thinking of renovating an out building and am thinking of having exposed brickwork on the inside. In this case as there will not be any plasterboard can the wiring go in the cavity? I will be employing an electrician but am just working it through in my own head first.

    Pressure Test Pipe Leaks

I have the manifolds in sets of four, with 22mm pipe running from one to the other. Is there any limit for the number of manifolds that can be connected to each other and would that affect the pressure testing?

    Pressure Test Pipe Leaks

I have today pressure tested our new water system and found that we have several leaks around the John Guest Manifold (four port rail manifold 22 to 15) Its OK at 3 bar but at 4 bar water seems to leak from all the outlets on all the manifolds - we have 16 manifolds in total. Any suggestions????
