    Speedfit to Radiator

Thanks I am running 15mm to the rads so i think I will use a chrome right angle compression connected to the valve with a short piece of chrome pipe connecting the two and connect the speedfit to that - may be via a short length of chrome if I am being fussy. The pic at...

    Speedfit to Radiator

I want to use John Guest Speedfit in a small central heting system in an office fed off of a combintion boiler. I know JG sell a radiator outlet plate that the pipes exit through in the middle of the radiator and then connect to the valves. The normal JG PEX pipe is not that flexible to connect...

    Part P Competent Person Assessment

Thanks and I may end up doing that but the fact that I would be able to do all electrical work in my home (legally) and others that we rent out etc would probably save money in the end - and I also fancy the challenge!

    Part P Competent Person Assessment

I am renovating our barn and want to do the electrics myself. I have previously rewired houses before Part P came into effect. I am thinking of doing a 5 or 6 day course and registering with one of the professional bodies so that I can certify the work myself. That is all fine apart from the...

    cold radiators

The system need to be balanced. The valve at the other end of the radiators to the ones that you control the temperature with, that get hot needs to be turned dpwn so that the water will be restricted to run to the ones that are cold. I am not a plumber but have had to do this. It is a bit...

    Running cables in voids

So - because that is all there is it would be permitted - even though it is not ideal. Thanks for the advice and help - it is appreciated.

    Running cables in voids

There isn't 50mm available. I can't be the only one with this problem. Maybe it is better to run the cables above the insulation between that and the roof felt but that would reduce the required gap and may cause moisture. If I used conduit - metal/plastic would that be OK.

    New Regs and Bathroom Bonding

I am renovating a barn and intend to get the local authority to inspect but want to make sure I understand things correctly. No shower - but if there was I would connect the shower earth to one of the other earths. This seems to make life alot simpler than having earth cable to radiators and...

    Running cables in voids

I am renovating a barn which has vaulted ceilings. The purlins are exposed but the rafters will be covered in plasterboard. After the insulation has been placed between the rafters there is a small space on the rafter between the lower edge of the rafter and the insulation of about 1.5cm where...

    New Regs and Bathroom Bonding

So to get this straight. The water main is plastic and all pipework is plastic apart from the short lengths to the boiler. None of this pipework needs bonding. I do not have gas only oil through a plastic pipe so this does not need bonding. If I have an electrical towel rail in the bathroom this...

    New Regs and Bathroom Bonding

    Hidden Junction Boxes

Good idea. Not used this method before but the wiring looks simple enough. Is it a good idea to use deeper back boxes, and what sort of insulated connector is best to use, presumably not just a connector strip - it needs to be fully enclosed doesn't it. Can anybody provide a link to an...
