I am mulling my options here. The usual trope for new builds is cavity wall + insulation. This seems excessive, costly, and wasteful. What is wrong with EWI systems ? A single block wall, and you can pack in 1.5-2x more insulation within the same space, don't have to deal with complexities...

In my quest to discover the underlying issue I drilled another hole, albeit smaller (20mm) and that too had air emanating from it. Not sure, it seems to be dense for all the holes drilled. I can't see or feel any voids when poking around.

38mm depth studs, 450mm apart, 10mm gap between the studwork and wall using rubber spacers. Filled with 50mm rockwool and boarded over with soundpanel.

The battens do need to be secured somehow ? Do you have an recommendations ? There will be a 20mm gap between the two walls, with rockwool insulation and boarded over with sound panels.

Just drilled into it, its not a no-fines. Drilled material is light grey so looks like a standard block thankfully. Weirdly enough, I have gone in about 2.5 inches and can feel a cold breeze?? This is ground floor of a 2 storey building.

I was thinking about PDHW to resolve that for newer boilers. Kind of useless to use on/off with a constant temp when they have so much more to offer. Older combis are a different kettle of fish. How much does PDHW differ from S-Plan ? Also, does PDHW work on a 2-pipe combi ?

are there any particular types of junction boxes you'd recommend ? Also, how would one manage the temps for the CH and DHW ? newer combis allow for more refined settings for CH and DHW temps like weather comp.
