Brick wall - Is this a sign of subsidence or something else?

Might an easy way be to dig a small hole where the other building possibly was? The founds may still be there... Or other detritus from it's demolition.

    Will it fall over

That's absolutely hideous. When are architects going to start producing buildings again that will stand the test of time? And why can't they get it in their heads that thin metal cladding panels and plasticy buildings age faster than a grape in a desert? My old highschool was a massive...

    Thin Joint masonry

From watching youtube videos of blocks being laid it does look significantly faster to me. The sheer speed with which you can lay a long bed is amazing, and the blocks are a lot bigger, plus less bedding/leveling. I suspect the mistake here was not ordering all your gear from one place...

    Bricking up food hatch

In my experience if you put a wooden stud wall within brickwork you will eventually get cracking, regardless how well your wooden studs are affixed. I'd therefore use bricks.

    Thin Joint masonry

Normally the actual manufacturer would refer you to a range of distributors, stockists and retailers from whom you can buy. If they can't do that I'd go to a different manufacturer. They can't possibly expect their product to be adopted if it isn't possible to purchase it.

    Thin Joint masonry

Surely the manufacturer can refer you to a distributor or merchant who will supply you?

    Conservatory floor....

So if you've got a conservatory with proper foundations but it just so happens to have an old concrete driveway inside it then I don't see why you couldn't put in a suspended timber floor as you suggest. I would hang the joists off the walls though in the usual manner, I wouldn't rest them on...

two wet bricks under dpc should I be concerned?

If you pour a bucket of water on the driveway does it perchance run down to this spot?

Fresh plaster slightly patchy but also cracking

What ratio was your mist coat, and what type and brand of paint? Generally when I've pushed my luck and painted too early the paint ends up not bonded to the wall and either bubbles off in large blisters or cracks and flakes off. A lot will depend on how watery your mist coat was.

Plastering over 3 day old plaster

I don't know the answer to your question but if I were in doubt I would wait for it to dry then PVA it and go again. Maybe you can wet the wall and do it earlier, but I'd wait for a plasterer to confirm. Even then, for the sake of a few days is it worth the risk?

    plastering noob!!

You might just be working too slow? As someone who plasters a wall once in a while I'm not very quick, so I have to work as fast as possible else the plaster catches up with me and dries out. Don't play with it when first getting it on, just whack it right on. Try to get into a routine of the...

    Conservatory floor....

Do you mean to say that inside your newly half-built conservatory you have a concrete driveway? Did you cut/smash through it to lay foundations, or is the conservatory literally built off the driveway? Regardless, probably worth comparing the costs of joists and floorboards with the cost of...

    New foundations overlapping old ones?

I guess I need to make a test hole to find out how far down and how massive they are. Any guesses how thick the concrete is likely to be? Old double garage, probably 70s era, used to belong to the council.

filling drilled hole in concrete floor. HELP!

Why not fill it with concrete? Or rather just a strong mortar mix. Not only is it cheap and easy but it also will match the existing floor.

Levelling screed for laying stone tiles onto a wooden floor?

Not to go off topic but is a downstairs wall a party wall for the flat(s) above?

    New foundations overlapping old ones?

Hi folks, I've got a situation where I want to knock down a garage/outhouse and build a new one adjoined to the building. Trouble is the new foundations partially overlap the old ones (see image below). Generally speaking is there any option other than to smash up and remove the old...

    whoops, ground anchor problem. .

New expanding bolts which fit whatever size hole you've drilled will cost less than the resin, are guaranteed to work (not pull out because the resin didn't grip), and yet can be removed later if desired (unlike if you resin it, and it does work).

    Cavity continuous into neighbouring property?

So you mean the cavity does not continue between neighboring properties? I know on new builds it wouldn't, but I'm interested in whether it typically did on older properties... say 40+ years old.

    Cavity continuous into neighbouring property?

Hi folks, Quick question- On older semi detatched properties, would the cavity wall on the front elevation normally have a continuous cavity into the neighboring property? ie where the party wall typically between two living rooms meets the external wall of the front or rear elevation...
