Our combi-boiler (an old Vokera Linea 24) has been behaving strangely of late. The heating will fire up for about 10 minutes and then the gas will go off. It makes the 'running noise' it normally makes when the boiler's running (I assume it's the central heating pump) but no gas. Hot water...

Just to say if anyone else comes across this but the original advice was correct. A few coats of Danish Oil made a world of difference and restored a lot of the damage. Regular coating is now done.

Thanks for saying. Okay in which case it'll just have to be as you suggest, continuous care with oils and cleaning up any spills.

Thanks, the one we have does drain but water seems to get everywhere, partly due to the tap design. I am tempted to put a layer of Wickes satin solvent varnish to see if that helps.
