how do I create my own drip edge on old coping stones?

I think it's Bath Stone. Do you think the grinder could be a but harsh on it? I'd have to be careful not to snap bits off wouldn't I? As backup, what do you think of my 'sticking a drip edge on' technique? Can you see anything detrimental in it - apart from how it looks?

how do I create my own drip edge on old coping stones?

Hi all I've got a parapet wall with big old coping stones without a drip edge. Can anyone suggest how I could create a drip edge on them? I was thinking of getting something like a strip of rubber seal from a PVC door and sticking it on with 'sticks like sh*t'. Is that a crazy idea? Cheers

how to patch small holes in breather membrane???

They are not nail holes. they are about a forefinger's diameter. They are not tears (they are not in a line shape - they are basically round). Yeah, I know, but in the case of tiles failing, I want to have the membrane that I paid for to keep out any water.

how to patch small holes in breather membrane???

Do you mean patch it from the inside - or take a tile off and patch from the outside? Also, what silone sealant would you recommend - just a generic all-purpose sealant? I assume that is should be an exterior sealant? Also - got any ideas where to get some small scraps of membrane from - I...

how to patch small holes in breather membrane???

Hi I've got a few small holes in the membrane in my new roof (mainly caused by the roofers walking on the tiles and breaking them, thus puncturing the membrane). I don't have any water coming in the holes, but just would like to know if there is an easy way to patch them up without...

    lead soakers enough rise?

Ahh - acctually, that's Rhepanol EDPM stuff, not lead, so it's all in one length. The idea of lead was just going to put the budget up even more. He said it would be fine (and it seems to do it's job), but I am keeping my eye on it.

    lead soakers enough rise?

Yes, I am intending on waterproofing all the render when the weather is good. re the price... Yes, I wasn't happy about the price, but I was persuaded to believe that I was getting a higher standard of work from a firm that was recommended by someone else - and the other quotes I got were...

    lead soakers enough rise?

Yeah - that's why I was pushing him to fix it - because it was cracked all the way along where it joined the old render. But now it's fixed and there's still a bit of moisture. But it is right in the corner of between the undelay and the wall - and seeing as there's lead above this bit, I assume...

    lead soakers enough rise?

Cheers, it's good to have an opinion from someone in the know. I've become a bit of a roof obsessive since chasing my roofer to fix the render that cracked and I just want to check everything, especially after shelling out £11000. I just wanted to rule this element out - cos there is a bit of...

    lead soakers enough rise?

Sorry, I don't quite understand what you mean. Have I misunderstood what soakers are? Are you saying that what's shown on the photo aren't soakers - or are you saying that they are soakers, but they have been done wrong? Cheers Juan

    lead soakers enough rise?

Hi I've just had my roofer fix the faulty render after chasing him for 4 months. I just noticed on the photos I took of the stripped render - that some of the soakers don't seem to be rising up the parapet wall very much. Can anyone tell me if my suspicions are correct please? Cheers...

reroof - estimate price (based on diagram included)

OK - your on. I'll get the sandwiches ready. lets call it a round £100,000 to make things simple. I have now noticed the posting rules and see that I shouldn't have asked for an estimate. consider me told off - won't do it again.

valley roof water getting on rafters (picture included)

I've been talking to my carpenter brother and from what he says after looking up in the loft - he reckons that the dampness could just be from lack of ventilation. there may not be water POURING and maybe it's just the coping stones that need redoing and more ventilation. before we had the...

reroof - estimate price (based on diagram included)

further to my questions about my reroof - is it possible to give a rough figure for a reroof based on the diagram? by the way - there is a mistake on my diagram - the flashing DOES go above the tiles. Also - I have missed off the other row of coping stones on the left side. I would want...

valley roof water getting on rafters (picture included)

Haven't got a photo at the moment - can't get on the roof cos I'm recovering from a back operation. And I'm just at gloucester airport at the moment and leaving the country for a few days. I think I'll take you advice and get them back though - when I get home.

valley roof water getting on rafters (picture included)

valley roof water getting on rafters (picture included)

Hi I'm not sure what work needs doing on our roof. The valley seems OK but needs doing in the future. We had a roofing contractor in when the render on one of the chimney stacks blew and fell off. It turned out we didn't even have lead flashings just thick felt (I didn't know anything...
