Gap between beading gasket and glass

Thanks for the replies. Crank: I've taken the beading off and back on again, but still the same. I started to think the beading was too long, but its not. Foxhole: The beading has been hit home with a mallet, but there just seems to be too much movement in and out within the beading itself, its...

Gap between beading gasket and glass

I've fitted a few windows myself and not had any issues but notice on the one I'm doing now that there is a gap between the black gasket and the glass. Its tight in the corners, but as you go along, the gap gets bigger to about 2mm in the middle. This is a bigger window than the others, so the...

Logburner install. Seal or not seal?

HETAS want to give him the opportunity to sort his mistake, but I dont really want him back. He is confrontational, arrogant and if he couldn't do it right first time, why should I trust him to now? Had it been another family or an older person maybe, he would have left it unsafe, with no means...

Logburner install. Seal or not seal?

The regulations state that a CO monitor must be fitted in the same room as the solid fuel burner. HETAS installers are supposed to fit one before sign off. He is not returning messages or calls so I am not able to give him the opportunity to correct anything. He brought a few boxes to my house...

Logburner install. Seal or not seal?

I do have the MI in an envelope, I will check them. I have spoken to the manufacturer and they have no knowledge of 'self sealing' pipes, so I doubt the MI will say different. The fact he failed to install a CO monitor is enough to report him I would imagine.

Logburner install. Seal or not seal?

He is HETAS apparently, he went on about it enough Im just waitng for the certificate to arrive. I have asked him to come back, but he is not responding. When he left he even commented that I had got off lightly with what I'd paid. I paid him a 50% deposit of £1000 (bank transfer at his...

Logburner install. Seal or not seal?

The fitter said the liner to adaptor didn't need sealing, but the way he cut the liner was not straight, so some was pushed into the adaptor a lot, some less so, before he bolted it up. I know I can seal the spigot myself and fit the CO monitor, but isn't that what I paid a lot of money to a...

Logburner install. Seal or not seal?

I'm guessing not that useful then?

Logburner install. Seal or not seal?

This is the logburner to stove pipe. The upper end is covered by a debris collar, so not visible, but it's the same steel stove pipe just slid over the spigot of the flue adaptor.

Logburner install. Seal or not seal?

A Hetas fitter has installed a logburner in my home, but not sealed the join at the collar to stove pipe. I didn't see him seal anything at the join between the stove pipe and flue adaptor either. He didn't use anything when joining the flue liner to the adaptor, as he said its not needed. He...

Are Marley Double Roman Smooth Grey roof tiles painted/coloured?

I know it's a roof...MY roof. No point in spending £10k for it to look like **** prematurely. ( weathering is acceptable/desirable, fading isn't)

Are Marley Double Roman Smooth Grey roof tiles painted/coloured?

I have some samples coming, but apart from looks, why do you prefer Redland?

Are Marley Double Roman Smooth Grey roof tiles painted/coloured?

Thanks for that. Just had a reply from Marley stating they use an acrylic coloured coating, but wouldn't elaborate of the colour fastness. Reading about the problems Marley had a few years ago, I'm not convinced they will stay grey or any other colour they are were when fitted. Do you prefer...

Are Marley Double Roman Smooth Grey roof tiles painted/coloured?

Hi Can anyone tell me if Marley roof tiles ( or any other brand ) are painted or is the colouring added into the concrete mix? I have a Smooth Grey Double Roman sample and it does seem to be obviously painted, with the top edge left unpainted, exposing the lighter coloured concrete substrate...

No weep holes in upvc frame?

Thanks Grinch. I have looked at the old frame that was replaced and indeed it does have holes where I would expect to see them. What's the point of weep holes on the exterior if the moisture cannot get there? As the frame has been fitted and rendered in, the only option is to add them myself. I...

No weep holes in upvc frame?

Success! Thanks Grinch. You'll note that one of the two outer weep holes has been made when the fabricator sneezed I think.
