    waterproofing aquapanel

I've ordered some MapeiWPS and 25m of Mira Safe Fibre carrier tape. Should do the verticals and board joins with enough left to patch over the fixings. I already intended to do the corners with silicone, it's really the only way to get anythng at all in there. Going with grey, to compliment the...

    another waterproofing question

I ordered 5kg MapeiWPS and 25m of carrier material from PureAdhesion, that should do the verticals and joints with some to daub over the fixings too. I don't want to spread too much 610 around as tile adhesive won't stick to it. Then again, does it stick to any waterproofing gum?

    waterproofing aquapanel

Hi Richard I agree that tanking is OTT of these boards, but my concern is where the boards meet and the vertical corners, which must be a weak point regarding waterproofing proprties of these boards, which is purely down to the foam core. For extra support I am using mechanical fixings on the...

    another waterproofing question

Thank for that. I need 15m of tape to do the joins and vertical corners, so at 10m I'm going to need to get two of the tapes. It comes out expensive at £65 or so. Too add more confusion, I bumped into a Wedi rep ( same thing as Deltaboards) at a trade show in Topps tiles yesterday and he said...

    waterproofing aquapanel

Hi Richard. Deltaboards are foam core cement faced boards, so lighter and easier to work with than Aquapanel. They also offer a waterproof barrier due to the foam core. The original idea was to do as you've said, I even bought alkali resistant scrim, but it all changed once 'tanking' was...

Mira Flight low tray - bent

Just to add more confusion, I went to a bathroom design and fitting shop today. They were puzzled why I was tanking or putting membrane on the joins at all. They don't usually do it unless specified by the customer, because the cement boards do the job and just need gripfilll? in any gaps and...

Mira Flight low tray - bent

I saw that one, they also do a bigger kit but they don't supply enough tape in either of them. I will need around 15m, both kits only supply 10m. I have looked at using Wedi 610, but unsure if it's suitable for waterproofing joints as the information on it's use is conflicting regarding the...

Mira Flight low tray - bent

Called a couple of plumbers suppliers and they couldn't really help. They mentioned the butyl tape for sealing the tray to the wall, but no idea about the walls and joints. Any idea where I can these rolls and liquid seal that you mention Madrab?

    waterproofing aquapanel

I know its an old thread but you mention taping the joints. This is exactly what I'm trying to do with the DeltaBoards I've used to board the shower area, ( despite being told that I only needed to silicone them) but I'm not able to find a stand-alone waterproof jointing tape, just some...

    another waterproofing question

Hi all Having boarded out the shower area with Delta Boards, I'm now puzzled at the the next step. I was told by the supplier, Tileflair, that I only need to silicone the joints and corners, then tile. The cement delta boards are only water-resistant/waterproof, the cement based Magix-S tile...

Mira Flight low tray - bent

Could you tell me where i can find them? I have trawled the web and called a couple of 'shower install' companies, but they just sell the kits for £50 or so.

OK, just got to find a roll of webbing and some solution without having to buy a kit, unless it only comes in kit form?

Mira Flight low tray - bent

Thanks. No need to apply any Mapei or Bal tanking products then?

Mira Flight low tray - bent

While I'm waiting for the replacment tray to turn up, I'm pondering over waterproofing. The Deltaboards that I'm using don't need additional tanking (apparently) and the tiles can go straight onto the boards, using a cement based adhesive. I was also advised that I only need to silicone the...

Mira Flight low tray - bent

Cheers Old&Cold. It's a 1200 x 760 tray, the current floor is 18mm bathroom chipboard. As I said, my preferred method is a sturdy wooden frame/plinth for the support that you mention. I don't take chances, but do take my time.

Mira Flight low tray - bent

@muggles A heavy tray doesn't mean it's less likely to crack, if fact if it's so dense and less complient, iit could more likely to crack because it has no flex? I didn't know it but I originally got specced up for a Kudos tray and plinth by City Plumbing, I liked the way it seemed to be built...

Mira Flight low tray - bent

Hi, What do you mean by 'correct installation' and 'onsite considerations'? I realise that an 'experienced' installer would just get on with it, I'd be surprised if he didn't, but I don't see how that makes it beyond the realms of DIY?

Mira Flight low tray - bent

I thought that Mira had a good reputation, which is why I went out of my way to get one. I'll have to see what the other tray is like when it comes in next week. I already rejected one tray from the supplier ( an Iflo one, their own brand) because it was oversized and wouldn't fit into the space...

Mira Flight low tray - bent

My Mira Flight tray arrived yesterday and immediately it 'looked' bent like a banana. I dismissed it but when I put a plasterers edge along it, it was out by around 5mm or so in the middle measuring along the top edge and measuring the bottom edge of course meant that it was 5mm or so at both...
