    Steel bean cavity wall sizes

Thanks for the advice, If I can reciprocate, you shouldn't smoke! :-) I will have a chat with my SE about the possibility of a single beam.

The final say, combi boilers and two showers....

Small update. Had someone round that was "impressed" with both the flow rate and pressure of the mains. Can't remember the figures but he put some contraption on the tap. So in usual internet forum etiquette I've ignored the majority and gone for a Baxi Duo-tec 40 Combi. Stay tuned for post...

    Steel bean cavity wall sizes

Are we saying they are too large? There is quite a bit of "stuff" attached to them. Should I check the engineers working out? I can supply his homework if you want.:)

Hi All, Newbie Here in midst of extension

Great thread. I should probably start one for my planned extension to use a form of therapy.

    Steel bean cavity wall sizes

Thanks. The questions has already been put to him so hopefully will have an answer Monday (He doesn't seem to work at 11PM on a Saturday night! :-) I'm not an expert but shouldn't the web of the beam be central under the wall it's supporting? I don't want to go thinner or higher, my toilet soil...

    Steel bean cavity wall sizes

Hi. Getting builders quotes for a single storey rear extension and it has been pointed out to me the the SE has specified 2 x 305x165x46 UB for a cavity wall that has a total width of 260mm. I have drawn it out below, does this sound/look correct? The span is quite long at 6.5m and it also...

The final say, combi boilers and two showers....

Cheers guys. 7 to 1 saying no, although 8 said it was a stupid question, heh. The reason for asking was I have had two quotes to install a system boiler with an unvented cylinder, at 4.6k and 4.2k, which is a little over what I was budgeting. Was hoping the combi boiler would be a suitable...

The final say, combi boilers and two showers....

So after going round in circles, reading manufactures websites with quotes such as: "Suitable for larger homes with one or two bathrooms" "Suitable for homes with more than one bathroom" "appropriate for 3 or 4 bedroom properties, with 1 or 2 bathrooms" "for large 3-4 bedroom properties with...

    Wet underfloor heating genius needed

Looks interesting, thanks. I really would like to keep the extension as "standard" underfloor heating that heats up a large thermal mass rather then just the tiles above it..

    Wet underfloor heating genius needed

The underfloor heating is planned as the only heat source for the room. Didn't really want to leave 1/3 of it "unheated". Cheers.

    Wet underfloor heating genius needed

Planned extension in yellow, with underfloor heating, no issues. Existing part of the house in green (but part of the new open plan extension) currently has a beam and block floor with 50mm screed. What is the best way to incorporate underfloor heating in the green existing bit? Cheers

    Christmas lash up.

Tis the season to see how much of the local neighbourhood we can illuminate from our house. The wife this year has lights for the front trees, joy to the world and fellow man! Plan is, each tree to have a IP rated plastic box connected by some armoured cable. Bring the armoured inside to wall...

    Honeywell ST699 to Hive

All working like a dream. Bypassing the thermostat, removing it totally from the wiring centre rather than bridging it at the actual stat took a bit of thinking, and the Hive instructions were suitable vague about it! Thanks again!

    Honeywell ST699 to Hive

Cheers dudes. As for the sudden HIVE rush, I think BG's electricity/gas deals are quite good at the moment so we just moved over to them, so BG might be pushing the HIVE? Thanks Again.
