Gap filling on wooden front door.

Nice, I wish I knew that when I used it the first time on my extension roof in my old house. Worked a treat but man I got in a state lol

Gap filling on wooden front door.

Hey Jon, It was put in when the previous owner did the whole place up about 12-13 years ago. My wife thinks she could see something very minor before, but I think it was perhaps a crack in the paint. It's only after this prolonged spell it's got worse. We've not been here long enough to know...

Gap filling on wooden front door.

Side note, when considering ct1 I came across their multisolve spray to tool it. Blimey, looks like a useful can of stuff to have around to get stuff off stuff basically!

Gap filling on wooden front door.

Dryflex 4 2 in 1 is the sfuff you mean then Wayners? I've had a look, I can see it mostly used for sort of decayed window ledges etc. I'd be concerned I'd be able to prep the area well enough and actually get this sfuff in sufficiently. We're talking a crack you could get a pin through but not a...

Gap filling on wooden front door.

Cheers Wayners. Man I see you're responses all over dude! Good stuff, oh, entirely unrelated but I did try a contour pillow in the end too! Works for me pretty well!

Gap filling on wooden front door.

Ah that's cool, I have some ct1, although I think it'd grey, I'll get some white. Blinding stuff. Most of the damage you'll seldom see as it's behind the heavy curtain

Gap filling on wooden front door.

It does feel pretty solid, but that thought did cross my mind. For such thick doors I was quite surprised to see the cracking.

Gap filling on wooden front door.

Hey guys, Our front door has some small hairline cracks on the panels, in some cases you can just sbout see daylight, eek. I'm thinking I can fill these? I'm just unsure what to use. Based on where it is on the door running a bead down from a tube of something and going over it eith a wet...

    Eggshell for bathroom? Brands?

Scratch the Zinsser, I think I'll just grab this for a tenner instead https://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Pure-Brilliant-White---No-0-Vinyl-Matt-Emulsion-Paint---2-5L/p/122428 (Yep, I know I could also get 10l but I have very little to mist coat and not much use for it elsewhere!

    Eggshell for bathroom? Brands?

Thanks Opps. I actually just found a can of diamond eggshell in the shed which feels at least half to 2/3rds full, and half a can of zinzzer permawhite matt. I think I'll use the diamond eggshell. Not sure if the permawhite would work as a mist coat (watered down say 3 parts zinzzer to 1 part...

    Eggshell for bathroom? Brands?

Thanks Mr Chibs. If the thin sections of plaster are mist coated, will I need to prime everywhere before using the eggshell, or will 2 coats of that be enough - I think I read somewhere it's self priming.

    Eggshell for bathroom? Brands?

Hey guys, our bathroom is being redone, and half of the walls and the ceiling will need to be repainted. I'm not 100% sure what it was painted with before, but my best guess is Valspar K&B, it looks alright, no issues with the surface. Am I right in saying Eggshell is the best choice for a matt...

    Ogee or not!

Yeah, they were my last attempt, as the picture online looked pretty much spot on, alas, in person it looked just like the B&Q one! d'oh! Cheers for the suggestion :)

    Ogee or not!

Sorry for the massive delay in replying, and the silence - had a lot going on. I have some Tourpret wood filler I've got from ToolStation. My current plan, is probably: * Give the wood yard one last go and see if they have anything different! * Cut a section of decent profile off behind a...

    Is Floetrol worth it?

Cheers - I bagged a 1l bottle from Amazon for £20 - expensive but not too bad when you think it should give a better finish for something you hope will be on there for a good few years! I'll only be using with WB satin - we have a mid grey which we're replacing with a lighter colour elsewhere...

    Paint Issues in Bathroom

Sanding would probably help adhesion, but the Zinsser stuff doesn't *need* it - I think it says on the tin it's better if you can but it works without. A family friend told me that they found wet and dry paper generated less mess when sanding - a theory I've yet to test, but if sanding dust is...

    Is Floetrol worth it?

Guys, I'm considering some Floetrol as I have a lot of wood to paint with water based white satinwood... beyond this, is it worth using Floetrol with matt emulsion, either for walls or celing? - In the sort of conditions we have now, not the height of summer. Lastly, assuming kept in a frost...

    Paint Issues in Bathroom

Oh and if it does start to peel and crack, but only a little, you could use Zinsser peel stop then normal paint - I used that in my old bathroom and got decent results

    Paint Issues in Bathroom

So it's not peeling it's just looking like water marks? Was any primer put over the silk before the matt was applied? My guess would be no, in which case I'd use something like Zinsser 123, which is a primer and stain block - that should take it back to looking decent, then use something like...

    Skirting and thick pile carpet

Cheers, yeah I only had a choice of nail polish remover, vodka or hand sanitiser to use - so I opted for the nail polish remover! I've since ordered some meths along with a tin of Zinsser 123 and Dulux Satinwood trade, so I'll test, key, prime if necessary, and paint.
