Water leak from gas fire flue

Yes it has a cap on. Weird thing is the leak was noticed when rain was coming from west or south west, house faces west front, east back but after the rain this week it has been coming from the east or north east and the flue has not dripped into the bowl under the flue in the loft. Need to wait...

Water leak from gas fire flue

It has never been flow tested. Did not know anything about that. Gas fire is not normally used, last tim about 3 yrs ago when boiler packed up, took 3 days to get the part, this was during a run of extremely freezing weather. What does a flow test entail and how could a leak be linked with that?

Water leak from gas fire flue

Thanks, have had roofers strip around flue pipe as there was a separate leak, they did not cure it and had to come back and applied sealant around all the joins. This leak from flue seems to have started afterwards. Have asked them to come back again, hopefully on Monday, to inspect flue pipe...

Water leak from gas fire flue

I have seen a previous post about something similar, not sure if it applies to my problem. I have had a roofer twice to fix a leak around where flue exits the roof. He had a second go as there was still a leak from somewhere. Applied a lot of sealant. The leak was not from inside the flue pipe...

    Nasty bathroom smell

I have read previous posts on bad smells, not sure where the bad drain smell, (I think), is coming from in our bathroom. House was built in 1995 and we have been here since then. This has not happened before. Smell is just in bathroom, en suite shower room is next door but no smell there. Cannot...

    Bath u bend leak

Thanks for info. Yes going to see if leak can be seen, did try to get some paper underneath but pipe too close to floor board each side. Will try to push a cloth under. Glad the hot pipe is not leaking as you say.

    Bath u bend leak

We noticed a stain on our utility room ceiling and worked out it was from the bath. We do not use the bath but flush the u bend out weekly to stop it drying out but only say half a kettle full. Managed to get bath panel off after a struggle. Surprised to see the hole in the floor to fit the u...

? Which graphics card. If any.

I am an oldie surfer, I have a basic Palicomp desktop pc running windows 10, bought in 2016 for about £260 odd I believe. It cannot update to Windows 11. I only do basic stuff on this and a Fire tablet. I was thinking of getting the Palicomp AMD Cobra which Computer Active magazine recommends...

    ? Which connector

Can someone tell me what connector to use in my vacuum cleaner. It is a 9 yr old Panasonic upright bagged one. It has been cutting in and out when in use. Accessed the wiring and it has got a split in one area. The 2 wires go into a crimped connector with another wire which goes to the switch...

How many burglar alarm boxes allowed

His old system used to get false alarms, usually when he was on holiday and we would have to ring his parents who lived a good distance away to come and reset it. He is a good neighbour and I, and other neighbours would check his property when the alarms went off. I just thought 5 boxes in total...

How many burglar alarm boxes allowed

Is there any restriction on the number of alarm boxes allowed on a domestic property? The neighbour on one side has just had a new system installed, he has a double garage with a room over it, the side is about 8 feet from my house. He has had 5 boxes installed, one on the front of his house...

Stuck 55mm brass nut in shower

What sort of grief might happen using an impact wrench on the nut? Have you used one before in my situation?

Stuck 55mm brass nut in shower

It is an exposed unit on the wall. Have put the flow control and temp knob back on for now. Did not know there was such a thing as a battery impact wrench. Must need a big socket. Thanks for reply. Shower still usable despite leak at the back.
