    Can I read DVD-ROM

Thanks! I had a look on the box and it says PC DVD-ROM in big letters on the front. On the back under minimum requirements it says "4xCD-ROM or better". Does that mean that it will run in a CD-ROM drive afterall?

    How to re-point brick wall?

Thanks for that. The mortar in the wall appears fine. I've had a poke and nothings fallen off or come loose. So is it worth taking off what looks like sound mortar just for the sake of the colour? Or am I storing up trouble if I don't do something now, even if it means hacking off some mortar.

    How to re-point brick wall?

My brick boundary wall was pointed when it was completed some years ago, they added some black pointing liquid in the mortar to make the it, and the joints, black. The black colour seems to have washed away now and you can see the mortar. The mortar is sound and the wall solid. How do I go...

How do I get paint off?

I've been painting the outside with Dulux Weathershield and managed to get some splatter on the driveway and ladder. The driveway is red paving brick and the ladder is aluminium. I could use a scapper but neither are mine so it wouldn't go down too well if I left lots of scratches. Someone...

    How to repair render cracks?

Thanks for that. OK so I apply the polyfilla, then the primer and then two coats of paint. Will that work because the walls were previously painted and I thought you normally apply a primer when its fresh plaster.

    How to repair render cracks?

Not sure what caused the cracks, but the polyfilla box says I've got to use an oil based primer before painting. I was just going to paint after the filler dries. Is that OK?

    How to repair render cracks?

The outside of my house was sand/cement rendered some years ago, and painted over with two coats of Dulux Weathershield. I’m going to repaint and want to fill-in some cracks in the render. The cracks are mostly hairline, although a few a very slightly bigger. Should I fill the cracks with a...

    White Exterior Filler?

The Tetrion All Purpose Filler says to apply an oil based undercoat. I just want to apply the filler to the outside walls and then paint over with two coats of Dulux Weathershield paint. Is this going to work, or will the filler just fall off pretty quick. Is there something else I could use/do?

    White Exterior Filler?

Can anyone recommend a strong and lasting exterior filler that leaves a white finish when dry. I was going to try the Exterior Polyfilla stuff but it goes grey when dry.

    External Hard Drives

Looks like its going to have to be the Lacie 1TB Rugged. Looked around at some of the others - Seagate, Western Digital,... - but there seems to be a lot of complaints compared to the Lacie. Its not the cheapest, even a "normal" Lacie 1TB external drive is about half the price but it seems...

    External Hard Drives

Yes I thought of DVDs too but they're only about 5GB each, and some of my files are bigger, I don't realy fancy breaking the files up. Two HDs, hmm, maybe. I'm almost tempted to stash the microDV tapes in the attic till the price of usb flash drives drop. Kingston have got a 256GB pen...

    External Hard Drives

I've got lots of home videos (100GB) of the kiddies so I was looking at something like the LaCie Rugged XL 1TB Hard Disk. I'm not keen on keeping it plugged, not only will be a constant power drain but more importantly theres the risk that one of the said kiddies might want to play with it...

    External Hard Drives

I'd like to use an external (usb) HD to make regular backs up of my PC. It won't be permanently connected, only taken out say once a week/month, connected up, files backed up and then stored away. I've heard that external HDs need to be permanently connected, apparently turning them on/off...

    Chipped bath

Not too bothered about seeing it really, its pretty tiny and I got bad eyesight! All I want to do is make sure the repair lasts. If I can get another 5 years I'll live with it.

    Chipped bath

I can see the bare metal, be it a small bit. Ronseal also make another product thats similar but its not a all in one, theres separate packets for filler etc. Is that a better bet? Wondering if its worth the effort though. This stuff costs about 20 quid, a decent steel bath comes out at...
